About the new Shotgun...

Why the hell does it look more like a bullet-based weapon than a shell-based? And it also looks like the Quake 2 Machine Gun.

Sodaholic used a shotgun model to create this weapon. The reload animation gives a good side look of it, and the barrel is clearly different from the more "regular" shotguns like the one used in Doom.

But you're right that the sprite could serve as a basis for a machinegun weapon.

I dunno. I used photos of a plastic shotgun toy, any resemblance to Quake 2 weapons is pure coincidence.
