Stealth Frag Posted January 16, 2016 Greg Punchatz share some concept sketches and other art for Doom1/2 and Doom64. In case you guys dont see it: Update 02-17-2016: Interview with Greg: http://www.develop-online.net/interview/models-from-hell-how-practical-maquettes-defined-the-original-doom/0216673 Spider Mastermind concept: Revenant: Doomguy's helmet: [Imgur] There's more on his fb. 0 Share this post Link to post
Technician Posted January 16, 2016 At least he's conservative with his watermarks. 0 Share this post Link to post
Chezza Posted January 16, 2016 The Spider Mastermind looks more like a Saturday Morning Cartoon villain. The Revenant is pretty awesome. Undead Human with a gas mask and holding two weapons. But I love the current Revenant too. I want both variants. 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted January 16, 2016 Revenant with a shotgun and a rocket launcher in addition to his missile launchers? YES, provided that a variant of him without the shotgun exists too, because hitscanners are prone to cheap damage AND infighting with each other, whereas Revenant's best role is to test the player's dodging abilities. I like normal Revenant's skeleton head much more than this one's gas mask, though. 0 Share this post Link to post
LittleInferno Posted January 16, 2016 The Mastermind is looking cross-eyed. 0 Share this post Link to post
MFG38 Posted January 16, 2016 That spider mastermind looks oddly hilarious. 0 Share this post Link to post
Walter confetti Posted January 16, 2016 The revenant concept looks pretty badass! 0 Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted January 16, 2016 On the 3rd pic you can even see the HUD that ended up making it into the early alphas. Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing. (Also rofl at those watermarks) 0 Share this post Link to post
Doom_Dude Posted January 16, 2016 Really like the concept of that revenant. Could be an elite version. haha 0 Share this post Link to post
The Civ Posted January 16, 2016 Kinda sad that the only versions of these that will ever exist on the web are plastered with some other dude's watermark. I mean, I know he made the models, but still, those aren't his drawings. Either way, that Revenant is incredible though, I'd love to see it made into a custom monster. 0 Share this post Link to post
HavoX Posted January 16, 2016 I'm so glad they didn't go that route with the Revenant. I think it's just me, but I just can't imagine a skeleton armed with a shotgun and rocket launcher similar to the Cyberdemon's when all he needs is boxing skills... and a hellish shoulder-mounted missile launcher. 0 Share this post Link to post

scifista42 Posted January 16, 2016 ^ I see his nostrils as eyes!!! Perfect. :P 0 Share this post Link to post
baja blast rd. Posted January 16, 2016 I'd love a SSG revenant. It would do triple the damage of a shotgunner. 0 Share this post Link to post

A shotgun guy with the HP of a hell knight would be pretty lethal Pretty cool that the skeleton concept of the revenant wasn't decided that early on. It looks like a mutated super-marine or something. 0 Share this post Link to post
baja blast rd. Posted January 17, 2016 I'd make it super fast too. When it spots you, it sprints at like twice the speed of the archvile over to you and tries to bury a SSG blast in you. Yeah I'm evil. 0 Share this post Link to post
kmxexii Posted January 17, 2016 yeah i'm not usually deep into the unreleased doom stuff but that revenant concept looks Hell of cool 0 Share this post Link to post

I'm confident they utilized CG models. We've seen high resolution renditions of them before used in advertising. http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/doom/images/a/a8/Doom_64_Poster.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20141223002234 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted January 17, 2016 The physical models may have served as concept art for the CG models. 0 Share this post Link to post
Netherstorm Posted January 17, 2016 That revenant design is quite interesting. 0 Share this post Link to post
raymoohawk Posted January 17, 2016 man it would be so awesome if those d64 models were found and realeased as well 0 Share this post Link to post
Avoozl Posted January 17, 2016 The only one of those models I find oddly done is the Mancubus, I mean it's head hardly even looks human anymore like the original Mancubus. 0 Share this post Link to post
