The most Doomish music track from Doom

Which one is the most fitting to the Doom hellish setting? The one that could be the Doom anthem?

In my opinion it's Doom 2 MAP28's Getting too Tense. When I think of Doom this music piece comes to my mind instantly. Especially that bass part at 0:37.

I think Doom 95 had a good choice when they went with E2M6, even though it's got a bit of a different tone from most of the OST. I've also always been partial to E3M3, too, though.

Doom is the doomiest doom MIDI in doom.

"Doom" is the MAP05 MIDI from doom 2.

I can't stand Getting Too Tense for too long. It's a good track but it's very repetitive and I find it quickly tiring.


IMO, the doomiest tracks in Doom include Suspense, Sign of Evil, Demons on the Prey, They're Going to Get You, Sinister, and Waltz of the Demons. In Doom II, I'd list Shawn's Got The Shotgun, Into Sandy's City, The Demon's Dead, and Waiting for Romero to Play.

When I think of doom, I think of the slower and more atmospheric tracks. To me, "Sign of Evil" wins due to its cold, slow, dark, and creepy tone. It's build-up also contributes to its doomy feel.

But if you're looking for a serious and NOT UNUSED answer, then E2M1's "I Sawed the Demons"

fuck no. that's the most boring song in the entire soundtrack. and to make things worse, it gets repeated three times. but Into Sandy's City, which is considerably Doomier, only gets played once.

Dark Halls is a pretty moody track that generally don't get played that often in PWADs. the text screen music from both games are pretty Doomy, too, and Nobody Told Me About Id is pretty good from Doom 1, while Shawn's Got The Shotgun is pretty good from Doom 2.

"Attack," the first map on PSX Final Doom. It's utterly iconic and dark. It has a huge impact on the gameplay as a kid because, far more than the midis.

"Sign of Evil" from e1m8 is my choice. As soon as the map starts, you hear that bent note and it sounds like the soundtrack to a suicide.
