Doom RoE weapon scripting

Title says it all really, if someone can point me in the right direction to a tutorial
or thread that will explain it all ill be grateful, all i want to do is find the scripts for RoE weapons and change the stats ie reload time how much damage per shot that kind of thing, like i used to do with the weapons in Medal of honor, i tried using pakscape to open the pak files but upon trying to save it usually crashed,
so i use Quark's but trying to open then up in text pad is impossible.

You don't need no special software to open pk4, you can open just with winzip/7zip/rar find script, edit and then just save.

thanks, but need bit more info, IE how to edit certain part as in increase ammo clip reload speed, shot damage, and so on.
