Lila Feuer Posted March 17, 2016 Yeah, can see why they were cut. Pack Hunters are BS. 0 Share this post Link to post
Wovenloaf Posted March 17, 2016 I just didn't like their decision to go with corny audio log cutscenes, it kind of messed with the mystique for me. That and the ending wasn't as satisfyingly climatic, which is funny because you actually make it out that time rather than just getting stuck beyond the gravitational pull of the planet in a drifting ship. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lila Feuer Posted March 17, 2016 The voice acting is really unnecessary and badly done. Then an unskippable cutscene in a game with no cutscenes comes halfway through to stop me dead in my tracks (but lets me manipulate my character with the mouse) right before the space marines rip me a new one. Garbo. Yeah, I love the base game's ending, it reminds me of The Thing, nihilistic. Not as bleak as The Thing, since there's some sentiment of hope, but it's similar. E: WTF that ending. 0 Share this post Link to post
Li'l devil Posted March 18, 2016 I'm currently playing this game, where those scary guys are beating the shit out of me: Also, I looked through the thread, and looks like I'm not the only one who plays this.. Amazing game. 0 Share this post Link to post

[McD] James Posted March 19, 2016 Comes a man to rescue me. Pooooor man. The Keepers have sealed the door and only they know how to open it. Cross you the bridge to the grotto of the Keepers' Sentinel. Stand you on the pedestal, and illuminate the statue with fire. Then you can discover the secret of the Talismans. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lila Feuer Posted March 19, 2016 Finishing Quake 4 today, was a very decent ride for what it is, I like it more than Quake II in that regard, but IMO nothing tops the original. Starting on Unreal II after shortly, just going in with no expectations and maybe it'll be decent enough on its own terms. It does look nice at least, but presentation is very different from the first. E: Scratch that Unreal II sucks, I'm doing BloodRayne instead, it's been I don't know how many years since I last played it on the PS2, doing the PC version on GOG and it seems to be as decent as I remember it being so far. 0 Share this post Link to post

Kontra Kommando Posted March 24, 2016 ChekaAgent said:Amazing game. What game is that? There's something about those earlier generation playstation/saturn graphics that I love (a la Tenchu, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil) . They seem to have aged better than stuff that was on N64. 0 Share this post Link to post
Dragonfly Posted March 24, 2016 Kontra. It was already stated that the game was Thief. :) Also, I completely agree with you. The reason N64 textures look bad these days is because they were absurdly low resolution (average 32x32 IIRC). They also had far smaller cartridges to store data on than a whopping 700MB CD. I think the largest N64 game was something like 64MB or thereabouts, where the largest PS1 game spans multiple, discs weighing in at over 2GB. I think the general type of game that found it's way onto 'Non Nintendo' platforms tends to be more serious and/or less cartoony, which also leads to needing better looking textures & models. 0 Share this post Link to post
Cynical Posted March 24, 2016 I've been playing Jet Set Radio. Great game... now, if only I could get the late '90s pop-rock soundtrack out of my head! 0 Share this post Link to post

PSX discs did store more data but they didn't really take much use of it outside of CD music. 0 Share this post Link to post
Da Eediot Posted April 11, 2016 I've been playing Metal Slug a lot lately. 0 Share this post Link to post

Guess it's good for Nintendo that modern flash carts are actually quite cheap. I got a 32 GB micro-sd at Walmart for $15, no lie. 0 Share this post Link to post

That is pretty damn cheap. I bought one (much the same, 32GB) for about £20. That was some months ago though. As for non-doom games, I'm juggling the 15-year old PS2 Game "Dark Cloud", and the lesser aged Dark Souls 2. I'm essentially forcing myself to be distanced from my PC to do other stuff, such as spring cleaning, spending more time with my partner etc before Doom'16 drops and mercilessly steals all of my free time. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lila Feuer Posted April 11, 2016 Bastion, POSTAL 2: Paradise Lost, Sacred Gold, Sam & Max: Hit the Road. And going through NOVA: The Birth in GZDoom and Operation Serpent for ECWolf. 0 Share this post Link to post
Rayziik Posted April 11, 2016 Dragonfly said:...15-year old PS2 Game "Dark Cloud"... Literally my favorite game series of all time. I highly recommend the 2nd game as well, Dark Cloud 2 (or Dark Chronicle outside USA I think?). I seriously purchased a PS2 and a copy of the games to play on EBay about 6 months back because I wanted to replay them that badly. 0 Share this post Link to post

DoomzRules Posted April 12, 2016 Alien: Isolation with my friend on his PS4..... whenever I go to his house and play Alien: Isolation with him.... we shout, yell, scream, and freak out because the Xenomorph is so damn unpredictable. I think my friend is scarred by that game lol, he isn't revisiting it for a while.... I mean the hospital bit was pretty terrifying XD. 0 Share this post Link to post
