TTC Doom Nukem

Recommended Posts

Are you a fan of both Doom and Duke Nukem 3D? Well, I'm pleased to present a mod of my design. Introducing... The Total Conversion Doom Nukem!

http://www.mediafire.com/download/1tc7j74f33fvwc0/ttc11.zip

This three episode 28-level mod for Duke Nukem 3D contains a selection of favourite maps from Doom, Doom 2, and Final Doom, each being sequenced accordingly to get a good flow of gameplay. Each episode gets progressively difficult too. Here's some screenshots of the first episode levels to a get a taste of what you'll see in TTC Doom Nukem.

So, this is a mod for Duke Nukem 3D. You could have mentioned at least that. (Damn it I can't read.) Also, you can upload screenshots to Imgur.com without even having to register there, then post links here.

EDIT: Hell, the Lizard Troopers shoot some big green projectiles, Imps shoot hitscans and drop shotguns and have enormous health... WTF? (maybe it's because I was using eduke32 to play it, though)

Oh, okay, thanks for letting me about the screenshots.

Have you tried loading up this mod with the batch file? It will use the modified con files and the grp provided. Yeah, the Imps basically replaced the Pig Cops. I dunno know much about the Duke 3D source ports as I never have one and this was made on vanilla Duke.

I had used the method of changing game directory, apparently it wasn't sufficient. Now I put the game files directly to my Eduke32 directory and modified the bat to launch Eduke32. Now the Imps shoot Cacodemon fireballs and drop green armors and occasionally shotguns, still. :/

I will try obtaining vanilla Duke Nukem 3D executable for this.

Yeah, unfortunately there's no other way to code in additional projectiles. In spite of that new feature of the imps, at least that makes up for the lack of shotgunners, considering that the lizard captains just drop pistol/uzi ammo like the regular troopers.

OK. It turned out that the Shareware (non-Atomic-Editon) Duke Nukem 3D doesn't run this mod anyway, so I'll better just keep using Eduke32.

Yup, it is. 20 years of Duke Nukem 3D! Let's see Duke kick some alien and demon ass in this mod of mine! By the way, scifista, yes, this TC requires the Atomic Edition.

Those screenshots are friggin' awful quality, but the actual map recreations shown look awesome! You've clearly been doing some fine work here.

Lot's of interesting history there.. Funny to see his not about roaming sounds, I never consciously noticed, but they certainly are heard a lot more frequently in Doom than Duke.

I apologise for the low quality screenshots. I took pains taking them and converting .pcx images into .png, which required making them into .bmp, and then, .jpeg, before I could resize the screenshots and make them into .png files. Still, I'm glad these recreations came out well, I hope you'll enjoy them as well as they try to be as close to the original maps as possible.

I also want to give a useful hint to anyone playing the mod. In Nukage Processing (E2L7) where you need to get the blue key from the rock formation, you have to perform a rather tricky running jump that involves ducking, and you must do that while going over the ledge next to the rock formation, very difficult to perform, especially with Run Mode off. Or, for the easiest way, use the steroids picked up from a previous level before you jump for the blue key.
