Is there a port that compiles all the Doom iwads in-game?

Recommended Posts

Is there an engine that can load all of the Doom iwads at once, and then allow you to pick any of them as you would an episode in Ultimate Doom?

ie. Episode 5 is Hell on earth, 6 The Plutonia Experiment, etc.

No.

But it's possible for someone to merge together all the iwads renaming the resources and the maps so there are no conflicts and then using MAPINFO, MUSINFO and the other facilities that ZDoom provides to create what you are after.

So that all maps have the proper music, skies, triggers, names, the secrets leading to the correct maps and back. Hmm, not sure about the intermissions.

But yeah, I think an ultraIWAD is possible.

No, you need to make it yourself like VGA Said, use MAPINFO and MUSINFO and rename each map so that they don't replace each other .

You wouldn't need MUSINFO. But the big part of the job is solving all the texture conflicts -- there are a few between Ult.Doom and Doom II; but there are a ton between them and Final Doom. Both halves of Final Doom also have texture conflicts with each other, of course. So what you'll need will probably be custom ANIMATED/SWITCHES to solve the conflicts.

The very least is either renaming the comflicting textures or implement some texture namespaces and set them for each map.

It's certainly not impossoble but definitely impractical do do such a thing.

It will be very illegal to distribute, too. Otherwise I'd be interested to invest a couple of days to create it.

On ZDaemon there are dozen of servers with such "Grand Doom mashups". Usually coupled with the most mismatched weapon mods and Blood/Heretic/Hexen enemies.
