whatever the good fuck Noah was supposed to be (Well, it was Shilled Fantasy, as I like to call it. Another example would be Snow White and the Huntsman).

I rather liked Noah despite its ridiculous take on the myth. It was a pretty cool stylized fantasy flick.

You know, reading through the thread, I'm sorta wondering how the distribution of various religions here on Doomworld reflects the worldwide distribution. Like, does it match or is it wildly different? Just a curiosity.

I'm an atheist. And I'll not discuss that any further, because it never ends well.

Same. I'm proud to say I'm Catholic, but I don't shove my religion down people's throats. Jesus was a man of peace, not a man of war.

Actually to be fair, I haven't actually seen the film in a single sit down, but the fantasy elements just looked sort of generic too me. So maybe I was sort of talking out my ass on that one. But what I saw reminded me of the sort of pointless forced fantasy elements of SWatH. *shrugs*

I have this really cool spoken word bible app of the King James version written in old English. The narrator sounds like a cross between James Earl Jones and Malcolm McDowell. Even though I don't believe in it, I find it really enjoyable to listen to. I used to let it play while I would draw sprites and create maps.

Scientology

It's a sect, not a religion, and was created by some sci-fi writer. Well, at least in many countries it's not classified as a religion.

I'm not a hardcore christian in that I go to church every Sunday, but I do believe in a greater force and I do believe that there is something after death, but hey, that just me.

The short answer is I'm an atheist.

I guess the long answer is I'm an atheist as well, but I find it to be a little more complicated than that, at least in my mind. I need hard proof for something to exist, so without there being hard proof of a God or Gods, I find I can't believe in him/her/them. Even if tomorrow it was announced that they had indeed found a God, that doesn't mean I would worship that being. Anyone that asks to be worshiped, doesn't deserve to be, in my opinion.

All that being said, I have no problems with other people practicing religion and all that goes with it. I even will entertain the Jehovah's Witness now and then. As long as it isn't being shoved down my throat, I'm okay with it.

That's the correct attitude towards any religion.

In reality there's no real reason to feel worried about religious dogmas other than the psychological damage they make more than feeling worried of people mistaking certain things as something that can be compared with scientific truths or science, which like you say do have proof and rely on constructed narratives by the application of the scientific method - religion can't do this, does not do this and doesn't have the intention to do this, even if one might confuse science with religion which actually does happen more than you know, ironically this confusion often comes from modern atheists.

The one that involves not feeling sorry about being a flawed human being and/or feeling bad about things that occurred before I even knew what existence was. I'm sort of agnostic but really only the idea that there may be more to it all than we know now, but not really any specific things like a higher being or a special place we go to. And to me, all human religions are a scam, nobody knows what they're talking about or have any irrefutable evidence to their claims, but give them lots of money for the cause anyway.

I've started going by non-theist, only because most atheists I've met IRL tend to be the super asshole atheist type. I really don't care what other people believe as long as it doesn't make it into the law. Even if public officials want to put up a Christmas tree in their office, I don't see the big deal. I would go by naturalist, but nude beach goers stole that word.

That's very noble, especially if you've been through many disappointments.
