Boom and MBF demos

I was under the impression that neither Boom nor MBF have an option for longtics. That assumption seems right for Boom, but then there is this statement...

Easy to test, just start recording and see if your mouse is jerky or not.

It seems that Boom/MBF demo format actually implies short tics (see here). I'm rather surprised they didn't take the opportunity when making a new demo format to just write the full 16 bits of the turn field.
