The old DW design was interesting, to say the least. Very much part of the early 2000s design zeitgeist.

That Carmack interview quote is interesting, because that was right around the time when development times were growing longer and longer. Daikatana got mocked for taking so long to release largely due to Romero's hubris but games regularly take two years or more to make now. How long have we been waiting on D16 at this point?
