Voros Posted January 2, 2017 I read through all that :D Anyway, the idtech1 engine is officially GPLed. Freedoom contains resources licensed under a BSD license, so its "free". If someone were to distribute the idtech1 engine along with a copy of Freedoom for no price it is essentially a free game. So Zenimax can't sue it (probably). But the name, may or may not cause problems. Unoffcially it is essentially Freedom written in a fancy way. I hate law. 0 Share this post Link to post
agenten Posted January 2, 2017 Thank you Voros. I have no further arguments at this time, because I feel like i'm derailing the OP. I also hate law. XD I will add that I find it disappointing that ID's games are now solely in the hands of people who do not share ID's philosophies on software. =( 0 Share this post Link to post
