Paul977 Posted May 13, 2016 There are many wads with modified sounds effects (like different sound of shots). is it possible to change that sound effects back to the normal Doom 2 mode ? Regards 0 Share this post Link to post
ETTiNGRiNDER Posted May 13, 2016 Open up the WAD in SLADE and delete the sound entries. 0 Share this post Link to post

It will only work if the sounds are simply overriding the standard ones. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kappes Buur Posted May 13, 2016 Download this file , extract it and drag it on top of the game engine. What happens is this, any existing sounds with the same name as in the new file will be overwritten and therefore you will hear the new sounds. Likewise, you can create your own sounds and use them by opening Slade3 and replacing/inserting them into the pwad of your choice. In pwads designed for the ZDoom family of game engines, you can insert sounds with the name of your choice by including them in a lump called SNDINFO and then specify in another lump called SNDSEQ how you want to use them. Now, go forth and experiment with the new found knowledge. 1 Share this post Link to post
Paul977 Posted May 14, 2016 Thanks for the answers, this worked: ETTiNGRiNDER said:Open up the WAD in SLADE and delete the sound entries. and no bugs, apparently. Perhaps because it was only the sound of the pistol/chaingun that was modified 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted May 14, 2016 In wads with basic sound replacements (sound lumps named the same as respective IWAD sound lumps to override them), you'd simply delete them. In wads with new sounds and a custom SNDINFO (assigning the new sound lump names to arbitrary logical sound names, and those being used by new things defined in DECORATE), you'd have to rewrite sound assignments in the SNDINFO to make logical sound names be assigned to the original IWAD sound lumps instead of the new sounds in the PWAD. 0 Share this post Link to post
Poormetheus Posted May 17, 2016 It's often a good idea because some WADs have sounds that are great, while others simply suck! I am a compulsive deleter of certain sounds that irk me :D 0 Share this post Link to post
