release date???

Gamestop, EB, and Babages all told me Doom III is coming out this October. Amazon.com says March 31, 2003. And id has not said anything. I dont know what is going on here?

There's no real reason to believe that. And I don't see why you call that 'optimistic', because I believe it's going to come out a few months sooner than that

In any event, it'll be a 2003 release. Don't trust Amazon.com.

Well, even if they do get it done before then I think it would be a better marketing stratgety (sp) to release it on Doom's 10th b-day.

i think another year is too late, given it is being based on geforce 3. i think it would be wise to release it at the end of 2002 or the first of 2003. a whole year is a long time and many things change in the computer world in a year. if it is relased next year then ID may not have the hole on the gaming technology.

also i hope it does not turn into a duke4 or daikatata, first duke4 will never come out and when if it did it would suck. second daikatana was delayed alot and it sucked too

Ipredict that it is currently scheduled to come out at June or august 2003, but will be released december 10, 2003

I don't think that Doom 3 is that far away. John is already talking
about the next level of tech using the NV 30. I have a sneaky feeling
that the game will be about 6 months away. I could be out to lunch.
Wishful thinking. I remember before Q3 was released they showed a demo
with Q3 running on the new pentium 3 processor. At the time i had a
P1 233 with a voodoo 2. I was blown away thinking "it will never run on my computer" but it ran fine at 800 by 600 and detail pulled back a notch.
ID are the kings of optimization and meeting deadline goals.
We will be blasting denizens of hell by March 2003.
