Urthar Posted May 26, 2016 There's few organic textures with slight shading that create visible banding over large areas. I've deliberately misaligned ashwall at times to break it up, or make the banding look more natural by staggering it. 0 Share this post Link to post
TheNerdTurtle2 Posted May 26, 2016 ^ Wow that sounds really cool, do you have time to upload an example of this (I never noticed). 0 Share this post Link to post
Urthar Posted May 26, 2016 It's a fairly subtle effect, but it feels a bit less artificial. 0 Share this post Link to post

Fuzzball Posted May 30, 2016 Actually as for purposely misaligning textures...doing it on steps should be encouraged imo- breaks up the monotony...especially when the texture bares an obvious pattern. 0 Share this post Link to post
SavageCorona Posted May 30, 2016 Stairs are a grey area especially when the texture is wider than each step. 0 Share this post Link to post

That's not really misalignment though. For example, compare the below two screenshots. Screenshot one shows the 'aligned' texture, but with the mentioned unacceptable repetition; the second shows the solution. In both instances the texture isn't misaligned. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fuzzball Posted May 30, 2016 Well it's not aligned at 0,0 is it? Also something like..mmm...wood? Or natural textures. 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted May 30, 2016 "Misaligned" doesn't mean "not aligned at 0,0", it means "aligned badly". Like the word "misplaced" doesn't mean "not placed at the default location", or the word "mistreated" doesn't mean "not treated in the default way". 0 Share this post Link to post
