Sephiroth Posted July 28, 2002 i get people askeing me for warezed doom every now and agian. however i dont give in to them. they then say, "i cant find it in stores" well if u look in wall-mart/k-mart and places like that you will not find it. however i see it alot at best buy, comp USA, staples(rare) and other computer stores. it is usally only 5-10 US, and i am not talking about the collectors edition. the collectors addition is everywhere, except k-mart/wall-mart. however if u are looking for the older versions, they are out there. I have also seem wolf3d and other older games. another good place is computer shows, i have found many older, rare and odd games for sale at ultra cheap prices. got a copy of doom for a dollar, ever have quake3 for $4(hey i can see why) also DONT use the doom95 port that may come with the doom games, if u want a newer or windows port get zdoom, legacy, boom or one of the many other great ports out. doom95 is the most horrible piece of crap and only makes doom play worse 0 Share this post Link to post
SyntherAugustus Posted July 28, 2002 tell them that at EB they are selling colletors edition boxes that have all 3 dooms. 0 Share this post Link to post
Naked Snake Posted July 28, 2002 Ever consider that some of them don't live in the United States? 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted July 28, 2002 yea but all those who came to me did, besides u can still get it in many contries 0 Share this post Link to post
nxn Posted July 29, 2002 http://www.idsoftware.com see, now there's no excuse. Unless it doesn't ship to all countries, but I'm pretty sure it does. 0 Share this post Link to post
Captain Red Posted July 29, 2002 In my local harvy norman, you can gram doom II for $9.95 (AUS). anybody who asks you for doom warezed in a cheap bastared. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted July 29, 2002 it would be nice of ID to release doom as freeware, that would so kick ass. hey maybe we will get lucky and they will do that with the release of doom3, or atleast include the older doom games with doom3. also i wish they would either rerelease or make freeware the keen games aswell as many of their older games 0 Share this post Link to post
gatewatcher Posted July 29, 2002 i don't see why people can't find like the doom2 wad or something. it is exremely easy to find. so isn't the entire game. people that complain are just retarded, that's all. *note: i do own doom, doom2, and the ultimate doom. it's just i have looked to see if it's arround on the internet and it is. 0 Share this post Link to post
nxn Posted July 29, 2002 I think we'll sooner see freedoom rather than a free doom. 0 Share this post Link to post

They asked us to forget DOOM ever existed. 0 Share this post Link to post
Little Faith Posted July 29, 2002 That's one of the biggest problems with the computer games scene. Legislation and corporate policies makes it almost impossible to keep life in old game classics. The whole thing is so geared towards "the next big new thing". Once a game outlived it's current market potential it is almost forcibly thrown into oblivion. Old books and records go to the library, old movies goes to the video store. You can find and plenty of institutions who is preserving rarities of the above media, but computer games are left to rot. No wonder computer games are still viewed as "low culture". Overcommercialisation I say. 0 Share this post Link to post

Me too; kicking off Doom warez sites is an occasional hobby of mine. Protecting my investment, I think :-) 0 Share this post Link to post

Little Faith Posted July 29, 2002 It was not as much Doom I was ranting about, more the gaming industry in general. Doom is kinda "the odd man out" in this case. 0 Share this post Link to post

I'm on this little missoin to get hold of every FPS I'd ever made. I'm pretty close at the moment. 0 Share this post Link to post
zark Posted July 29, 2002 Pfft. Doom. Legally. Ha! Seriously, I did buy Doom 2, Hexen and Heretic. 0 Share this post Link to post
Use Posted July 29, 2002 I bought all my copies too. Best $20 i ever spent. I got that Depths of Doom Trilogy pack that cam out a while ago. Just got fed up of not having any reliable master disks. 0 Share this post Link to post

Some wads/megawads out there actually have some of the original Doom/Doom2 levels, so you'll get a partial Doom/Doom2 (whichever game you don't have) experience. In fact, there's a certain megawad that has some of the levels from Final Doom... *cough* Doom2 Xtreme Gold *cough* 0 Share this post Link to post
Lost Soul Posted July 30, 2002 RailGunner said:tell them that at EB they are selling colletors edition boxes that have all 3 dooms. Yeah. The same for the EB here. But the people there are freaking IGNORANT. I asked about PSX Doom when I was looking for it, and the tried for 5 min to explain to me how the game never existed, and still doesn't. Morons. 0 Share this post Link to post
Silverwyvern Posted July 30, 2002 I asked EB when the new Samus toy was coming out... and the guy was like "..S...a...m..u..s?" So I continue on about how Metroid Prime should be out soon and they are releasing a toy with it. and so he's like "...M...e...t..r..o..i..d..?" 0 Share this post Link to post

LordTrasher Posted July 30, 2002 LOL! Yeah, you can get a three-box set of DOOM, DOOM2 and Final DOOM for like fifty bucks over in Aus. There's also a similar Quake-Quake2-Q3TA set as well. 0 Share this post Link to post
Naked Snake Posted July 30, 2002 I got the Quake 3 Arena Gold package. $40 for Q3A and TA, but if I wanted to buy them seperate, it would have cost $100. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lost Soul Posted July 30, 2002 I don't feel Q3 is a game IMHO. It is a 3d multiplayer/botfest that should have been free and downloadable only. 0 Share this post Link to post
