Doom 2 replace monsters

Recommended Posts

Vanilla monsters i've just seen too many times. Having seen many wads with "new" monsters made me search for a "pack" if you will. I found Doom N64 monsters replacement pack. Interestingly enough i didn't know if it was actually possible. It was in a PK3 format,I loaded Doom2 to test and all the enemies were replaced with the N64 counterparts. So how can i make the same pack but, with monsters i downloaded from Realms667. I just want a custom pack to "take" with me for any maps or megawads to essentially make my playthroughs more challenging and fun. I searched all I found was adding them as decorate items to maps and utilizing doom builder in things mode to place them.

There is a custom monster randomizer pack around somewhere. It is a bit chaotic but sure makes things fun and challenging.

I've never done this and was able to replace zombiemen with afrits and imps with this weird mancubus thing quite quickly.

Monster replacements shouldn't be bigger obviously. Half the haedexebusses are completely stuck. :D

Apparently Decorate lumps are additive, so that you don't even have to merge them into one and can simply just use Slade to copy the entirety of the monsters' resource wad to your own resource wad. But just for convenience's sake, they should either be merged into one or moved to the very front of the resource wad or something.

Make sure to have a class name reference available so that you can know what things are called by the engine, because it's often not the name we know them by: http://zdoom.org/wiki/Classes:Doom.
