invictius Posted August 3, 2016 I've never encountered one, I guess there just aren't any instruments with a lot, and midi isn't designed to be used on something like a home theater system with a subwoofer. 0 Share this post Link to post
Tristan Posted August 3, 2016 TNT: Revilution's intermission theme from 1:28 onwards is kind of OTT with bass. If not, there's the text screen theme. It's kind of shameless plugging, but I tend to make bass parts prominent, perhaps a little too much sometimes... 0 Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted August 3, 2016 I tried to get as much bass as MIDI would allow a couple years ago when transcribing/editing a few pop songs: http://www.geocities.ws/doomkid/MIDI/YeahYeahYeahs-HeadsWillRoll-Doomkid.mid http://www.geocities.ws/doomkid/MIDI/Martin_Garrix-Animals%5bDK92%5d.mid http://www.geocities.ws/doomkid/MIDI/JKwon-Tipsy%5bDK92%5d.mid http://www.geocities.ws/doomkid/MIDI/Jason_Derulo-Breathing%5bDK92%5d.mid http://www.geocities.ws/doomkid/MIDI/in_my_mind_DK92_edit.mid I don't remember if these are all bass heavy, but I know at least some of them are. I have quite a few more I'll post when confirming the bass action. I also know some of the MIDIs in exec.wad are quite heavy on the bass. 0 Share this post Link to post
Spectre01 Posted August 3, 2016 Would TNT Evilution's map02 theme count? 0 Share this post Link to post
Remilia Scarlet Posted August 3, 2016 It depends what makes the resulting sounds. If you use a basic SoundCanvas soundfont, or things like Microsoft's GS Synth, it'll probably not be too bassy. Change the soundfont, and you might get more bass. partition36.com/random-stuff/game01.mp3]This is done with a MIDI file, and yet it sounds awesome in my car with my subwoofers. The difference is the instruments/synths I used to create it. 0 Share this post Link to post

joe-ilya Posted August 4, 2016 What do you mean by "A lot of bass"? Do you mean several bass tracks being played at one? Or a prodominant bass track? Here's a MIDI with two bass tracks playing at once: Here's one with a dominant bass track: 0 Share this post Link to post
Nine Inch Heels Posted August 4, 2016 sodfinal.wad: m31 -> stewboy - stars It's got some nice bass to it, and it's one of my favourite MIDIs. EDIT: and there's this thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_ELauXk-oA (not sure if it qualifies as a MIDI though) 0 Share this post Link to post
Varis Alpha Posted August 4, 2016 stewboy does have a couple of tracks where he layers e.g. two plucked bass harmonies (or whatever you call them) to make the track heavier. there's some of that stuff in Speed of Doom. i have to wonder why the need for bass-heavy tracks though. in the Microsoft wavetable, the bass is going to get pretty wimpy sounding even on bass-heavy tracks, and if you use a soundfont of some sort, you're probably going to get too much bass and complaints from the neighbours if you turn it up. 0 Share this post Link to post
