How to find a mosquito in a room?

Recommended Posts

There is one mosquito somewhere in my room.
I wanna smash it before going to sleep.
Of course the fucker is hiding ATM.
Is there a fast way to find it?

Listen carefully, I guess.

On a slightly more serious note, citronella tends to keep them away from you. Maybe invest in some of that.

Make sure to scare it away from surfaces on which it is hard to see, like darker pillows and whatnot. Check the walls, use one light source only, otherwise you're likely to over look its small shadow when it flies. Other than that, listen carefully, as has been said already. The more you force it to move, the more likely you will spot it.

Leave out a bowl of sugar water and it'll fly to it eventually.

That does essentially nothing, because mosquitos don't actively "look" for sugar.

1: take a chair in the middle of the room.
2. Wear shorts and sleeveless shirt.
3. Sit and don't move.
4. The mosquito will come.
5. When it appears, let it land on your flesh, WHACK!

Use a flyswatter, works wonders for both pesky flies and mosquitoes.

An electric mosquito bat or whatever they call those things, are even better. And dont leave a mess behind.

Easiest way is turn the lights out and wait for the mosquito to find you.

How do you expect to kill it if you cant see it?

If there's not a lot of background noise to contend with, track it by ear and wait for the pest to land.

Yeah, they look for blood of mammals.

Things that attract mosquitoes:
- carbon dioxide (breath)
- body odor (especially from the feet for some species)

Things that don't attract them:
- sugar (they're not wasps)
- light (they're not moths)

If you want to attract mosquitoes into a trap, you're better off using stinky cheese than sugary anything.

Also slathering yourself in citronella doesn't work too well, it only lasts for a couple hours.

This thread has been going on long enough. DID YOU FIND THE MOSQUITO? THE MASSES MUST KNOW!

The suspense is killing me.

Quite right. Fill the bowl with your own blood instead.

This is no ordinary mosquito. He has eluded you for too long, drastic measures must be taken.

Yeah, I killed that bastard but today there are more. One already dead and there is at least one more still hiding somewhere. Currently I just do the usual stuff on my computer and wait for the mosquito to appear between my eyes and the monitor (that's when it's really really easy to spot it). Somehow most of the time I can't find it by just going around the room and looking everywhere. I tried using a blanket to make some wind and hopefully make it fly but no luck so far.

I dunno, I used to be more calm about this stuff in childhood but nowadays they somehow piss me off a lot more. And they seem much more clever than in the past. Maybe I will try that cheese thing.

Get a fucking electric mosquito bat.

Spray the room to oblivion.

Im serrious about the bat.

Nuke the entire site from orbit

Honestly just close the doors and windows then gas the room with bug spray and leave it for an hour before airing it out, I found that to be the best option and it will kill any other lurking bugs in the room as well.
