I'm trying to figure out what I want to do because I love Halloween. I love that the Satanic, occultist, witchcraft elements of the past are celebrated for an entire month. It's like we give ourselves an excuse to dance the dance of the macabre, but when you reach adulthood, you have to find something better to do than go door-to-door. I'm hoping to get invited to a rad party because I don't have the money or space to host my own these days. I keep wanting to do something ritualistic, something that can evoke the macabre in a fun and celebratory way, but nothing has come to mind yet...

Yeah, I bitch about that at the end of August every year. Damn Costco feels the need to put out their Christmas wares around that time, and I think they have that stuff in storage at the beginning of summer.

Now I'm wondering when this whole trend of selling holiday stuff months in advance of the holiday started. 80s? 70s?

I'll turn a blind eye to Halloween stuff in September, though. Fall's my favorite season and I like the colors of the leaves and that tingling feeling in my nose when I breathe in the slightly cooler air.

Halloween starts the day after Labor Day and ends the second Sunday after October 31st. It's just a fact.
