zdoom - how to deteck if a target is near floor ?

Hello guys,

I got the idea of replacing archvile attack with fire that spawn under feets of the target on the floor. But what is the target is floating ? I want the archvile to attack differently if is not step on the floor while the attack begin.

Any idea how I could do that ? Let say if the target is not on the floor I will make him do a missible attack with a projectile or keep the standard attack witht the flames... But I need a way to detect if the target is on floor or floating..

Does checkfloor check the calling actor or can have a target ? Because if I use it in the actor that represent the attack, the attack already engaged..
