Altazimuth Posted October 22, 2016 Could you tell us about the circumstances of the crash? What IWAD and mods were you running? Is the crash reliable, and if so, how are you producing it? Are you using the most recent dev builds? 0 Share this post Link to post
Urthar Posted October 22, 2016 I've been working on a Boom format map with a custom resource wad, and testing the map from GZDoomBuilder. Versions 01 to 11 of the map are ok, but version 12 reliably crashes Eternity (and Doom Retro) at start up, version 12 is ok in PrBoom+ and ZDoom. V11 has 4065 vertices, 5672 linedefs, 1640 sectors and 169 things. V12 has 4172 vertices, 5809 linedefs, 1673 sectors and 251 things. Node builder is ZDBSP - Normal (no reject) Eternity Engine is v3.40.46 "Bifrost" Map Analysis of V12 just shows a bunch of missing and unused textures, and is little different from V11 in that regard. 0 Share this post Link to post

It looks like you are using a BEX patch, and it is somehow causing a crash; could you post just the BEX patch? 0 Share this post Link to post

VGA Posted October 23, 2016 You should post the map, too, so others can recreate the crash. 0 Share this post Link to post
Urthar Posted October 23, 2016 I'm a bit wary of posting unfinished work, but in the interests of science I guess: http://www.mediafire.com/file/4b1q9jho0w0tgwl/EternityCrashTest.zip 0 Share this post Link to post
VGA Posted October 23, 2016 I think it's because of the 0-size DEHACKED lump, dude :D 0 Share this post Link to post
Urthar Posted October 23, 2016 O.o How the hell did that get in there? Oh well, easy enough to remove. Yeah that works, removing the mediafire link. 0 Share this post Link to post
printz Posted October 23, 2016 You mean to tell me a zero length dehacked lump crashes Eternity instead of being ignored? How does MBF treat zero length dehacked lumps? If it also crashes, then Eternity should just ignore such a lump. 0 Share this post Link to post
Urthar Posted October 23, 2016 The situation was that the resource wad used by the map had a proper Dehacked lump that worked fine, but some how an empty Dehacked lump had crept into V12 of the map wad. So perhaps it also involves having more than one Dehacked lump. 0 Share this post Link to post
