Really it depends on what takes up all this space exactly. All the graphics (interface graphics, sprites, flats, wall textures) that are used in a level are loaded in memory. If you take something like ZDCMP2 which has several hundred megabytes of textures used in a single level, well, you get it. Furthermore, said graphics are stored in memory in a bitmap format, not a compressed format. So if you have 100 megs of PNG textures, prepare for them to take up more space in memory. Though Ancient Aliens uses the uncompressed Doom picture format, so size in memory will be about the same. If a lot of space is taken by stuff like MP3 music, then don't worry too much. Streamed music formats like MP3 and OGG are not loaded fully in memory. MIDI and module formats are fully loaded though. 0 Share this post Link to post
