Alternative to slade for playing midi files?

Recommended Posts

Midi seems to randomly break in slade for me, doesn't play anything, even with my settings right. Everything else plays though.

A media player, like Windows Media Player, VLC, etc... Your phone...

That would require having to extract the midi file in the first place.

Did you try setting a (different) MIDI soundfont in "Edit -> Preferences -> Audio" in SLADE3?

Why not do just that? It more efficient.

Load it up in-game, change the music with cheat / console command. On the mac at work I seem to not be able to play midi's natively, and even VLC media player says no. (I really should get a soundfont installed) but a workaround for me is to rename the midi to D_RUNNIN and open it in ZDoom. :P

Are you using Fluidsynth or Timidity? See Preferences->Audio.

My apologies for bumping such an old thread, but is there a solution to this? Having to extract the MIDIs or boot up Doom is pretty ridiculous, is there a fix that allows Slade3 to play MIDI / MUS files? I'm using Windows 7.

Did you go to Preferences -> Audio? Have you set a soundfront? Have you tried configuring TiMidity and using it instead?
