GIF overhead views from maps

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of some DOS programs which will make a GIF file of an overhead view of a map, preferably in simple colors (even monochrome) but high detail? Search engines seem not to be helping much.

I know the Freedoom webpage uses some sort of Perl program to generate GIF versions of maps, if I am not mistaken.

I`m not sure I completely understand the question, so ignore me if this doesn`t make any sense.

You want to make gif-picture of your map in DOS...
step 1:
start doom(2)by typing doom2 -devparm
(This allows you make sceenshots in DOOM by pressing the F1 button)
step 2:
While in your level press TAB (followed by IDDT)
step 3:
press F1
doom will say "screenshot" and write the shot in you DOOM-directory as a pcx-file
step 4:
exit game and open paint-shop-pro (in windows) or whatever program you use to edit pictures.
step 5:
Open the pcx-file (doom00.pcx) and save it as a gif.
Now you have a overhead view of your map in simple colors :)
