Doomworld Mega Project 2017

This project is designed to inspire the largest possible number of mappers to share their creativity. Each participant can create a map for the project and publish it here before December 31, 2017. Maps with any theme, size, quality and gameplay will be acceptible. You may be an experienced mapper or a novice, no one will be rejected. After the deadline all maps will be compiled in one or more wads and published on /idgames archive.

Doom_Font_Green_Arrow.png Anyone can join, anytime before the deadline. Deadline is 2017.12.31
Doom_Font_Green_Arrow.png No quality control, but maps must at least be playable and exitable, and abusive / malicious maps would be rejected.
Doom_Font_Green_Arrow.png Each participant can create only one map in the project.
Doom_Font_Green_Arrow.png Maps must be playable with Doom 2 IWAD.

Doom_Font_Green_Arrow.png Any map format is allowed.
Doom_Font_Green_Arrow.png New music is allowed (except MP3, OGG).
Doom_Font_Green_Arrow.png New textures and flats are allowed. You need include them in your wad and rename with a 3 character prefix from your nick-name. Example: S77xxxxx. Do not leave in your map unused textures.
Doom_Font_Green_Arrow.png DECORATE is allowed for new things only. Give them also the 3-character prefix. Resource size limit: 1 MB
Doom_Font_Green_Arrow.png Liquid falls textures from Community Chest 4 used in project as standard. cc4falls.zip

Doom_Font_Golden_Exclamation_Mark.png Don't use the MAP07 or MAP30 slots for your map and don't use secret exit line actions.
Doom_Font_Golden_Exclamation_Mark.png Don't replace original resources from doom2.wad
Doom_Font_Golden_Exclamation_Mark.png Sky textures must not replace SKY1 or RSKY1. No custom skies for vanilla maps, mandatory sky transfers for Boom maps and mandatory MAPINFO for ZDoom maps.

EDIT: The prefix I'm going to use for my custom texture is "ATR"

Would it be a problem if I used a more "exotic" port, not the mainstream Boom/(G)ZDoom? I'm way too cool for the mainstream and I'd like to try out something new, but it'd be weird to have an entire new "block" of maps only because of me.

And are terrywads OK?

edit: I can't begin a map right now, I'm busy with another project until around mid-February, so don't expect my exotic masterpiece too soon. Hell, it's a whole year!

I think it is quite acceptable. Maps for exotic ports will be placed at the end of the general list. Maybe after the publication of your map anyone else interested in the port that you use, and create something for it.

Sorry, but terrywads will be rejected. You can create a wad on any theme, but without an abusive content.

I have this map I made last year that I never did anything with apart from releasing it standalone, but it never got more than a couple dozen plays I'm sure. Would there be any issue with me touching up that map and submitting it for this? If there's no issue, then I'm interested.

Stromcatcher I want inform you, that Decorate.txt dont support TAS. Speedruners would not play this WAD :/

By TAS (tool-assisted speedrun) you mean prboom-plus, that's wrong. PrBoom+ doesn't support DECORATE, but I doubt that anyone is going to use ZDoom features in a map for vanilla w/o static limits or Boom.

Just a question: how this megawad will be ordered? By date or difficulty (over dividing them by ports)?

As I understand it, each participant creates a map exclusively for the project.
But, in fact, all published maps can be played before completion of contest.

I think it is quite possible, if no one here will be against. Maybe in previous projects were such precedents?
If someone is against, I will make a new rule prohibiting participants bring maps previously published elsewhere.

Project will be ordered by date and divided by port type.
