Gzdoom 2.3.2 (in OpenGL mode) completely black upon loading

Recommended Posts

Any reason why this might be happening? I can run it in software mode and I can run older versions of GZDoom just fine.

There are quite a few ways. One way being if your gzdoom.exe was in c:\doom\, you'd enter the command prompt, type "cd c:\doom", then type "gzdoom.exe -glversion 2". Alternately, either create a gzdoom shortcut, right click it, click properties, and then add "-glversion 2"; or create a batch file next to gzdoom.exe by going to folder options, uncheck "hide file extensions", create a .txt file next to your gzdoon.exe, change the .txt to .bat, then edit the file so it says "gzdoom.exe -glversion 2"

Neither the batch nor command line methods work. Neither the 32 or 64 bit versions work. The Mac version doesn't work.

You didn't mention your OS, your gfx card, which drivers you have... basically "why the black screen in Opengl guys?" isn't very helpful

Sorry about that.

It's a Windows 7 machine with 8GB RAM 2.90 GHZ clockspeed. I can't figure out how to ask the computer to display what my video card is, even after Googling.

Try the following:

gzdoom.exe +logfile lotsofstuff.txt

When the screen goes black, press Alt-F4.

You should get info about your video card in the "lotsofstuff.txt" file it generates.
