Trying to map mouse to virtual joystick

I just want to use the mouse as a joystick. I've tried ppjoy, vjoy, glovepie, and I'm not having much luck. I've stayed up far, far too late, and I'm going to bed soon because I can't deal with this frustration on low sleep.
