rehelekretep's is really awful, imo babies are kinda repulsive to be honest because of oversized heads, underdeveloped facial features and overall alien-like look, ewwwww. Was instant adblock yet I still remember it.

 

Hitherto's avatar with the Supaplex character is fantastic, also one of the extremely rare cases where the use of GIF isn't obnoxious at all and feels justified.

 

Most anime ones are lame as fuck, there is time and place for anime and Doomworld usually isn't it. They are kinda similar to pony avatars.

 

Azuruish animation is lovely tho, also another example of an actually cool GIF.

 

Overall the number of charming avatars went down by a big number since they increased the maximum image dimensions. Tiny underdetailed pictures had a lot more soul.

Nice. I thought this was a solid parody of that Memfis fellow.

I'll have to admit, I kinda like Mr. Freeze's avatar. It's not because it's sexy or something like that, but I just like the artstyle.

*Linguica's shipping avatar is great for me because I can't help but to read his posts as if they were written by the Rock himself.

*Mechadon's avatars(both the current and the previous ones) are simply awesome.

*Wildweasel's NES looking Doom Guy is also a personal favorite because it looks authentic. Looking authentic is very important is pixel art for me, specially when trying to imitate a specific console's style.

*Maes's Cyberdemon ass avatar is a timeless classic and should be revered.

*That one Tracer avatar that was the Black Sabbath "born again" cover. I like that cover.

*I'm indifferent about anime/waifu avatars, but some of them look really cute, like that one rdwpa one that was a dancing Touhou character, Mr Freeze's current avatar, and AgentSpork's current one aswell.

i like essel's current avatar. I like Ajora's himouto avatar. I like the shaking revenants. I liked Urthar's old Nyaruko avatar. I like Eris Falling's fish. not going to lie, I also really miss some of the older stock avatars, as they did have a strange character to them (though I don't think they were any "better" than the avatars floating about these days, they're just different) I sort of have the static ones archived, but I never bothered to properly archive all of them so the animated ones are lost to me. I sure hope someone did archive them.

 

edit: aagh how could I have forgotten about the hyperfish. There's probably so many obscure ones out there that I can think of, the ones here mostly just cover the ones I like that I've seen recently. heh

You make a good point. Hell, people should exercise this kind of tolerance even when they think someone is being intolerant.  I see a lot of people using hatred to combat hatred (or what they think is hatred), and that doesn't help anything.
