I've always envisioned Samus as more of a rough-around-the-edges Ellen Ripley type than a bikini clad/spandex-wearing buxom blonde. They really should have left Samus' appearance under her power suit ambiguous.

I always imagined her more as a suit of armor more than the woman people tell me she is. The armor is the character. Samus is just a skeleton in the body.
