damage jackal Posted August 21, 2002 however, i do have some bulletin board experience. i know that at least on the other board that i visit announcing that you're a newbie something akin to an abortion, and i'm certainly hoping that the same is not true for this board. i was recommended this board by rick trimble (or lord trasher as you guys would know him). he seems to think that i would like you guys and that we share a sense of humour or something. now, is there anywhere that i can get a kind of 'unofficial TOS' kinda thing going on? 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted August 21, 2002 This is a friendly place. Make some intelligent comments and you'll be accepted real fast. TOS? 0 Share this post Link to post

Fredrik Posted August 21, 2002 Big parts of the FAQ suck. Unprofessionally written. 0 Share this post Link to post

Grazza Posted August 21, 2002 Fredrik said:Big parts of the FAQ suck. Unprofessionally written. My servants can smell the FAQ's blood... It's very difficult even for professionals to write good guidelines. They tend to get written bit by bit over time and contradictions and other gibberish inevitably creep in. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted August 21, 2002 Unprofessional in style, not origin. If you look at a FAQ written by for example Linguica, you can tell the difference. (This isn't an attempt to kiss ass, btw.) 0 Share this post Link to post
gatewatcher Posted August 21, 2002 BBG and RailGunner wrote the thing. You get what you pay for. =P 0 Share this post Link to post

EVIL Posted August 21, 2002 *fix* If you look at a FAQ written by Linguica for example, you can tell the difference *fix* anyway.. welkom to the DW forums :] 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted August 21, 2002 OMG, comma flames! I'm staying out of this one. Edit: unless anyone says something really dumb. 0 Share this post Link to post

Fredrik Posted August 21, 2002 This is, however, not a FAQ. It's a message board :P 0 Share this post Link to post

Amaster Posted August 22, 2002 My only issue with the FAQ is the use of the phrase "ghetto speak" From the FAQ: Please do not post in ghetto talk, ha><0r lingo or in CrAZy CApS. It makes your posts hard to read and you should remeber that not all of the users speak English as their first language so it may confuse them as well. I think there should be a better defenition for it. 0 Share this post Link to post

Don't talk like that or everyone will flame you for being retarded? Bah, my FAQ isn't perfect but it certainly isn't bad. 0 Share this post Link to post
Amaster Posted August 22, 2002 No, I mean some examples of words and phrases that are unnacceptable. Not everyone shares the same defenition. Im not asking for you to update the FAQ or anything though, just pointing it out. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted August 22, 2002 BBG's FAQ is a work in progress. Leave him alone. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kinsie Posted August 22, 2002 "Ghetto Speak" - See "Esco". Includes liberal use of "Dawg" "Mah Man" and other phrases commonly used by black men who talk to a crap backing beat about shooting cops, when they've probably never even seen a gun before. 0 Share this post Link to post
