The Standard E1 Community Project... lives again! (On idgames!)

A release candidate!

If anything doesn't go wrong, i'll put this to /idgames!

- Added new maps versions of Spectre01, Liberation and CarpetolA

- Included the primeval great music

- Fixed a unused texture bug in E1M2

- Recorded a DEMO1 for E1M5

- Included spectre01 UV-max of E1M8

- Made a text file (misses only CarpetolA map description)

 

Tell me if anything needs a change.

That desyncs spectacularly after the minor update to my map. In fact, I die while chainsawing the Pinky at the start. :P I'll record another one that works!

 

Also @Walter confetti, you credited me for the e1m5 demo which you recorded under "Additional Credits".

 

I'll try and play through the wad today to make sure everything is cool.

I see that I've not included a description of my map. Here it is.

 

Author name: CarpetolA

Map: E1M5 (Third Moon Lab)

Description: A short, but nasty techbase map which started as a part of an E1-remake that I planned years ago but sadly didn't see the light of day. Now ascended as a part of this map set, it may look different to its ancestral counterpart, but it's still just as deadly. 

Music: "Tension" by PRIMEVAL

Build time: I have no clue... Two months total?

 

Made in Vanilla Doom format with Doom Builder 2

Tested with Chocolate Doom, ZDoom and GZDoom

Other editors used: SLADE3

EDIT: Couple of things, 1) Map08 doesn't have a reject, not that it probably matters and 2) I think it would be smart if we replaced all the demos.

Just finished my playthrough of the episode:

  • @CarpetolA is mentioned as "CarpelotA" in both the text file and the intermission screen.
  • "participating" is misspelled in the Additional Credits section.
  • Peculiar monster block line in e1m4:

Also on the same map, the computer texture cuts off rather strangely by the ceiling. Perhaps some kind of border around it would look better?

  • e1m6 could benefit from either a Berserk or a Rocket Launcher with a box of rockets, to avoid the "lol shotgunning Barons" stigma. It's also a bit strange that a map that late in the set doesn't have an RL.
  • e1m9 is missing a boss fight at the helipad :P

In the "play for a minute and intentionally die" style? Wouldn't want to spoil whole maps with UV-Maxes methinks.

"play for a minute and intentionally die" sounds good to me, even make them amusing.. getting nuked by barrels, trying to Tyson hordes etc

Expect E1M4 bug-fixing... I was waiting for The_Slovinator if he/she/it want to work on it's map, otherwise i'll do some of the minor bug-fix that Spectre01 found...

Fixed.

  • Removed that monster block line.
  • Lowered the ceiling in the shotgun computer area.

- New demos in-game (DEMO2, DEMO3) that plays E1M3 and E1M7 respectely

- New version of E1M4 is on the compilation

- E1M6 have a rocket launcher just before the baron encounter, also i put some impassible lines for avoiding jumping or crouching for shortcuts and spolier points in zdoom ports

- CarpetolA name is fixed in the titles

- Text file is fixed (Thanks Spectre01 for the help)

Eh, i was thinking of it now.

For the next one i'll put the no jump and crouching restrictions in MAPINFO...

And next one will be /idgames one, if nothing of wrong happen in this version.

1. I can't seem to find it on the /idgames. I wanna see the reviews. Is there a link? The one Walter confetti has posted is a link to the zip file.

2. Will there be a sequel to this?

Most probably. It depends to how good this episode will be received from other people...

Anyway, I have in mind already some ideas for proceed on this... I thinking to various options for a next installment...

I would definitely be down for an E2 sequel. I've always wanted to make a large tower map, so I'd be interested in e2m8.
