The "stupid mod idea" thread

Anime Doom

 

Everything is rendered in cel-shading. all weapons are replaced with different powers, and there's a 5-second delay for shouting that attack name. during this time, the monsters will just sit there waiting for the player to Finish! The! SENTENCE! it also replaces the soundtrack with many songs from famous japanese cartoons. in between some of the main levels there are filler ones where the objectives range from taking panty/upskirt photos, to reminiscing past levels and other non-important stuff.

Chicken mod: where u have to beat doom being morphed into a chicken (aka chicken form like in heretic)

or

Pig mod: same as above except as pig form like in hexen

Ace Attorney but it's Doom.

 

It would take place during the events of Doom II: Hell On Earth and the lawyers and witnesses would be demons and zombies. You will be playing as an Imp as the defense attorney, the main prosecutor that you're going to face in court would be a Revenant. The cases would be around monster infighting.

I'm imagining Doomguy beating the crap out of hordes of demons while the Fist of the North Star opening theme plays.

I've had this idea once for a mod where you could combine weapons through alchemy to create new, fancier guns. For example, combining a chaingun with a plasmagun would create a repeater, or a chaingun with a chainsaw would create a nailgun, or a shotgun with a pistol would create a rifle. I went as far as writing down all of the more basic weapon combinations between the vanilla guns, and got together a couple of guns sprites from the Zdoom forums and Realm667 that I planned on using for the mod, but alas, I realized I don't possess the required coding knowledge to pull it off, and I don't like asking for help usually. So that's the end of that, unless someone wants to steal the idea.

A Christian WAD. You're a priest, and you exorcise with light and cross, don't kill, because killing is against the Ten Commandments. Exorcised zombies and demons become believers and priests and say their prayers to Jesus Christ. All demonic items and signs are replaced with christian tokens.

A mod where you must save one or several hostages in each level. The hostage will replace a random item (excepts keys) in the level in order to be always reachable. Your goal is to rescue him/them from the monsters and escort them to a teleporter which will also replace an another random item in the map.

 

To free a hostage , you must first press the "use" button to make him following you. Secondly , you have to reach the specific teleporter but be slow otherwise the hostage will be lost. Also , the monsters will not directly attack the hostages but they stay vulnerable and have the same health as the player. To finish a level , you have to rescue at least the half of the hostages (You can change the minimum required in the options in order to make the game harder or easier. You can also change the hostage's health as well if you find the default configuration too frustrating).

 

You must reach the exit to complete the level as the original game. However , the exit action will teleport you to the very beginning of the map as long as you have not saved enough hostages.

Well I have one: First Person Dudley Do-Right. Play as either Dudley Do-Right or Snidely Whiplash as you face off in essentially a Mickey Mania plot.

 

 

To be more specific, by mickey mania plot, I am of course talking about 32 classic cartoons to play through as you must outwit your rival.

Excuse you, prboom still runs that quite easily.

ZDoom and its derivatives that added DECORATE and with it the insanely complex and slow monster state machine.

 

Not saying that's a bad thing, just saying that if you want speed, do it in DEHACKED. Kinda like programming in assembly in the early 90s to squeeze those extra five FPS of your game, lol

@Albertoni Excuse you, i never use that "zdoom". I use latest Eternity, also tested prboom+, glboom+ with 100krevs.wad. That lame map sucks my CPU 100% and is unplayable. I use 640x480 resolution. The Eye wad has huge and complex map, but there was no lag on Eternity at all.

And whats with ur hatred towards zdoom/gzdoom. U had this gzdoom-hate attitude in [WIP]Elementalism thread. I am curious to know the reason.

@ReaperAAI think he thought i use zdoom and complain about fps in 100krevs.wad. I don't hate these srcports, i just don't like them. zdoom changes Doom too much, gzdoom - the same + OGL. Doom needs fake contrast and alive pixels to look good IMO. I was little interested in Elementalism, but i will not be able to check it out because gzdoom requires modern machine. Since it's port for 1993year game and does not support older versions of OGL, i can't understand this nonsense, sorry.

It's a source port designed to take advantage of modern hardware. Hardware that has OpenGL 3+ capabilities. I don't see the nonsense in that.

Ah yes, gzdoom has very high system requirements and I can see that being an issue. But with that being said it is a very powerful and moddable engine. Most doom gameplay mods would not have existed if it wasn't for zdoom. Just to show u an example of its capabilities see https://www.moddb.com/mods/total-chaos
