He should randomly make mistakes with his weapons, such as:

- When reloading the SSG, he sometimes misses the hole and drops one of the shells on the floor, leading him to only have a shot the strength of a normal shotgun.

    - Chance to accidentally drop the shells is increased when moving.

- His aim quivers with the pistol, instead of the typical pinpoint accuracy.

- The normal shotgun sometimes jams, and he has to unjam it by forcibly pumping it before he can continue firing.

- He trips and has to regain his balance if he misses a punch.

- With the chainsaw, he has to restart it every once in a while with a string-pulling animation. Chunkier monsters (Revenants, Cyberdemons) make it jam more often.

- He covers his eyes whenever he uses the plasma gun, so the screen has to turn black every time he fires it.

 

Or he could be clumsy with other things, such as:

- Sometimes he accidentally puts the key in the slot backwards, so there has to be a short period of time where he re-aligns it.

- Sometimes trips when running up stairs. Causes him to stutter and also interrupts him from shooting or reloading.

    - He could also slip sometimes when treading on liquids.

    - Maybe as an optional thing, but he can also trip on fallen enemies sometimes.

- When putting on armour, it takes a long time to put it on, and he sometimes puts it on backwards, so he has to do it again.

- Sometimes, when the level starts, he could be looking the other way, and the player has to turn around.

- Takes some time to pat the flames off of him when he's hit by an imp fireball, or a mancubus missile (whatever you call those)

- Hesitates before getting on high elevators, and refuses to go on unless the player presses the forward key a second time.

- Around corners, he can sometimes stub his toe on the edge, which makes him flinch and subtracts 1 health.

- He walks slower, and also has more view bob the more ammo and weapons he has.

- Sometimes has trouble with doors and switches, causing them to need a second press in order to function.

- Accidentally kicks over singular rockets, causing an explosion, harming himself in the process.

- Lite Amplification goggles are sometimes put on at a weird angle, and need to be corrected.

 

Those are just a couple I could name off the top of my head. Terrible ideas, but also could be doable.

Sounds like a Cacowards nominee. Somebody please make this a thing!

I didn't know that you have some similarities between you and me, and I have the same thing when I have an idea of Scott and Rebecca (Wool Ball) in Samara as a Tag Team, and Wool Ball enemies in SchMonsterMixer.

Every weapon fires bfg shots except the bfg, which fires pistol shots. The effect is given to all the enemies as well.

Hospidoom. You are Nurseguy and must heal monsters wounded in battle with Doomguy. You heal them in hospital or in battlefield by giving them health packs and armor. None of monsters can die, or game over.

A couple odd ideas I've had lately:

  • A fighting game-style arcade ladder. On each map, you fight a challenging demon (i.e. not just a vanilla imp or baron) in a small arena. I've seen similar WADs before, but I don't think any of them had an overt fighting game theme or a laser focus on 1v1 battles.
  • A showdown with the King of the Monsters himself, Godzilla. Bonus points if the player has ridiculous, Russian Overkill-style weaponry to go toe-to-toe with him.

Madden Doom

Pick your team and player and try to go to the endzone, no matter what. Some of the teams have players with special abilities, such as:


- Patriotic snooping
See what the other team is doing and what play they will call.

- Partial deflation

Ball gets partially deflated, allowing for a easier catch. (but it also increases the chances of having your pass be intercepted)

 

- PED Power

Become faster and jump higher to catch those air passes for a limited time.

 

- Berserk
The original berserk power-up. Makes you easier to tackle other players. Be careful when trying to sack the QB, as there's a random chance that this act will be considered "roughing the passer".

Not exactly a stupid mod idea, but I wish somebody would make an update to Truckosaurus (G/ZDOOM), adding more living things to kill, more power-ups, more levels, etc. It's just sad to see it not get much attention.

Hurt or heal: Everything has a 50 / 50 chance of giving you more or giving you less. So 4+ shotgun shells or 4- shotgun shells. 25% health or 25% harm. It is set by the level's start, not when you get the item. This will prevent reloads.

Melee Doom: Doomguy "forgot" everything he knew about guns due to brain damage caused by extensive use of berzerk pack. He can still pick up weapons and ammo, but instead he uses them as makeshift clubs (Shotguns), throws them as javelins (Rocket Launcher), boomerangs (BFG 9000K), flails (Chainsaw), and grenades (Rockets).
