Koko Ricky Posted August 21, 2017 (edited) I was the cartoonist (among other things) for my community college's newspaper a few years ago. I ended up winning a number of awards for my work, among them three national awards including one first place award. 1 Share this post Link to post

My mother was pregnant during the infamous Plainfield, IL tornado of 1990. My father was living near that area at the time. He said that driving around after the storm was over was one of the more disturbing times in his life. He recall seeing a tree stripped of all of it's leaves with pigs from nearby farms impaled on the branches. 0 Share this post Link to post

Tracer Posted August 21, 2017 Unfortunately, it seems as though people are just posting more random facts about themselves instead of actually surprising facts...with at least one very obvious exception. Can a mod just lock this thread? People don't seem to understand what surprising means. 0 Share this post Link to post
Tracer Posted August 21, 2017 @dew, if you are able to, can you please lock this one up? It has proven to be, as you said, a redundant clone of the other thread. 1 Share this post Link to post

Tracer Posted August 21, 2017 A surprising fact...like I don't know, you actually being a Horse with Sunflowers or something. Just something we wouldn't have expected. 0 Share this post Link to post
Doominator2 Posted August 21, 2017 I'm actually a horse with sunflowers growing from my back. 2 Share this post Link to post

Maybe that I'm transgender, but I think most people here know that, and I doubt that even counts as "surprising". The fact I think Doom 2016 and its soundtrack are utter crap might be surprising, though. 2 Share this post Link to post

mrthejoshmon Posted August 21, 2017 For an actual interesting fact this time, I have actually died before, I wasn't old enough to comprehend the event but the though of actually being dead for any period of time just to come back to life is scary but interesting. Also something quite depressing: I also was to have a twin, somebody assaulted my mother and killed him before he had a chance, it also left me expecting to be severely crippled and a recommended abortion, interestingly enough I was neither. 5 Share this post Link to post

galileo31dos01 Posted August 21, 2017 Not sure if this can be labelled as "surprising", as nobody really knows me here, so here's my fact: My first boyfriend and I met through Yahoo Answers and we used to chat there until we actually met umm face-to-face. There was (or there is) a fashion to become "Yahoo Partners" with another user and be like a virtual couple, most of the people there would never meet each other. The fact that he and I actually met was something nobody believed and people started to spread a rumor that we were the same person. It was really common that one person might have multiple accounts and "secretly" pretend to be someone else. I still remember one of the rumors: "he invented a virtual partner because he's homosexual...". I can't believe I used to belong to that, world... 5 Share this post Link to post
KVELLER Posted August 21, 2017 Not sure if it's surprising, but here it goes: I was a very sociable person up until I was 9, making friends easily and talking without any problems. My parents and I moved to the countryside on my birthday, and after losing almost all of our cats during the travel (there was only one survivor) and arriving to a place completely unknown to me, I ended up really shocked. Like, really bad. I had lost my home, my firends, and everything I knew, and we didn't even have a house! Sure, it's not that terrible, but it was for me as a kid, especially since I've never been very "tough" when it comes to my emotions. Later on I started going to a little school, but I couldn't get along with any of the kids there. I started to become an introvert. From then on I started spending most of my time alone, but now that we've moved to the city again I've had the chance to find some people I can talk to, and I'm slowly recovering my old personality. Something I like about the internet is that here none of those things actually matter. I've always been my true self here. 2 Share this post Link to post
NeedHealth Posted August 21, 2017 I was watching a video on youtube. A very interesting one if I remember correctly. The video started to lag so I updated the page via f5 and watched a few moments more. Here is when I accidentally pressed 5f again... and the video had been removed by the uploader. I never got to see the end of it. This shaped me a lot when it comes to accepting ads on net. 2 Share this post Link to post

NeedHealth Posted August 21, 2017 (edited) There is a hill with a road on the left side where my work is. Once there was a car with load of planks that turned to drive up this hill as I walked to work. The planks came in with about |----| this much distance to my nose as he turned. I could have been severely injured and the driver would probably not have noticed. e- actually I've seen so much shit just commuting back and forth to the same place for the last 6 years. Blood. People being almost decapitated by a buss. Buss breaking down so the doors won't open. People lying flat on the ground, face down. People stuck in subway doors. Subways doors not closing. People throwing up in the subway and on the escalator. Zigeuner taking a quick peek at my backpack. Someone finding an abandoned backpack in a subwaycar(it was inert, just forgotten) right after a similar attack in an other city. The funniest yet saddest was a guy who got his backpack stuck on the outside of a subway door. Now that side is rarely used on my line and he was holding onto to his backpack when I left like 7 stations later. Poor guy.- dunno if he got to keep his stuff but I hope so. The second funniest was when about half of the daily commuters on my line all together saw a guy forgetting his bag and collectively started screaming at him. june gloom Posted August 21, 2017 Okay, I'll drop one. I'm nonbinary and asexual. Outwardly I look like any other sad sack who'd post on a forum dedicated to a 20+ year old computer game, but inwardly I'd really rather just not be anything definable. I'd rather be an abstract concept. 5 Share this post Link to post

Battle_Korbi Posted August 21, 2017 I was nearly diagnosed with Aspergers as a kid. Thankfully, it was during that time in past when no one knew shit and I was just branded as a "regular kid who is a bit weird". I still have the document somewhere in the house, as I compared the report the doc made to the symptoms online and most of them matched. I was this close to being marked as someone useless to the society, to being marked as a person who can't control his shit, and to be marked as a person no one should take seriously. Stigma was really harsh back then, as "special kids" were looked upon as frail kittens and not children who need to grow up as well as the rest of the kids. And as so, if my parents were any more paranoid, and any less ignorant, I would have a really shitty life by now, would most likely be severely depressed and nowhere as close as I am. May not come off as a shock, but to think a simple error in communication between a doctor and over-worked and tired parents saved my life in general really makes me believe I dodged a bullet there. Something more directly, once I had a car hit me at a curve when I was just a small kid going to school. I survived, with no injuries, not even a bruise, although I did fly a meter or so. My backpack and thick coat saved me, absorbing most of the shock of the collision. Funny thing was that I somehow managed to break one of the dude's lights, as I witnessed a man stuck on a rollercoaster of emotions, seeing a kid hopping around like a goatling, and a non-functional front light. Mind you I was also afraid of pedophiles and kidnappers at that time, so when the guy said "Get in the car. Now", I kicked him in the nuts and ran as fast as I could, parkouring my way to school. Might seem like a super primitive method of dealing with potential rapists, but it worked. Felt a bit bad for the guy, but not anymore though. 1 Share this post Link to post
elsaltaccount#9999 Posted August 21, 2017 I think Half-Life 1 is beter than Doom, in it's stock singleplayer, not modding, the modding of every main Doom game (except for DOOM) cuts Half-Life's modding in half with a chainsaw, pisses on it, and then throws it in a volcano. 1 Share this post Link to post
