DooM 3 System Requirements

Recommended Posts

Any word on what it will take to run DooM 3 smoothly? I was hoping the Athlon XP 2200 w/ Geforce 4 Ti4600 (probably VIA KT400 chip and 512MB DDR) I plan to build soon would be good enough....???

It will run on a GeForce 1 card, probably with a 700mhz processor or something. Minimum sys requirements.

LOL, my GeForce 2 barely ran anything more advanced than Quake 2

Wtf? My cousin's GeForce 2 64mb card can run Quake 3 Arena with everything turned up and gets 90+ fps with slowdown a very slight slowdown in like 2 levels.

Here's an educated guess:

Minimum spec : 700Mhz processor, 128MB RAM, GeForce256 or Radeon 7500
Recommended spec : 1Ghz+, 256MB RAM, GeForce4 or ATI 9700
Kickass spec : 2Ghz+, 512MB RAM, NV30 or higher

That is called being rich.

I'll upgrade my memory and video card, my processor is sufficient (P4 2GHz)...

I'll be playing with an AMD xp2200+, radeon 9700 128mb, 512 ram, and audigy soundcard with 5.1 channel speakers. Of course, I'll be playing games made 5 years from now with that machine because I'll still be broke.

He said "latest" card. There is a latest one already. The question if there'll be a new latest one.

NV30 will come out this year, DOOM III will most likely come out in the middle or towards the end of next year.

60? 30fps is the standard.

The fps rate of the game should match your monitor's vertical rate, that is the best for your eyes and it does not look like shit when the refresh rate is out of sync. On another note, Doom3's engine is going to be ticking at 60 Hz. Surprising, compared even to qw's 72 (if I remember correctly).
