Zandronum Bots

I just downloaded the latest version of Zandronum and started a bot game. Here are two things I'm wondering about:

 

1. Bots MUST use weapons other than the pistol or brass knuckles to attack. Otherwise, they just run around aimlessly.

2. When they do look for weapons, they either get stuck on barrels and props or in the corners of walls.

Bots are really dumb, but if they're getting stuck that much on the way to a weapon after spawning, the weapon placement itself might need some reconsideration. What mapset was this on?

E1M1, E1M5, and E2M2.

That'll be why, most vanilla maps have weapons pretty far away from spawn points. Due to their extremely simple nature, bots work best on smaller maps designed specifically for deathmatch.

Basic arena like maps (like Freedoom's map07) tend to work best with bots. Or basically, symmetrical maps are usually easier for bots to handle. Open world maps that are simple to navigate work too.

Like Doomkid said, they're very simple and can't do much. Load up a mapset like Swift Death with bots and you'll get a near-decent enough experience.

The bots also expect to be able to jump, and if you disallow it, they won't be able to, but still try, so they get hung up when they reach a place where they want to.

Thanks for the help! I was also considering the option of editing the map myself. What's the best editor for map editing the deathmatch maps?

 

EDIT: Nevermind, using Doom Builder 2 right now.
