Did Doom 3 use motion capture for animation?

Or was it all done manually? I think I remember hearing John say in some interview  (the 2002 japan one) that the animations were done in Maya. Did Doom 3 use motion capture for it's animations or were those not industry standard yet?

You can identify motion capture in some cinematics (especially in Resurrection of Evil), but the majority of animations seem to be handmade.

 

There's even a "mocap" folder inside Doom 3's pk4 files, which contains some of the main marine's animations for cinematics.

So all of the monster animations are done completely by hand? Wow, that's really impressive.
