Release a GZDoom standalone game on Steam for free?

So I was wondering the legality of releasing a GZDoom Standalone game on steam for free. The release would include the GZdoom executable and all associated files, the PK3 file for the game, and I might write a small launch program. Every last asset as far as the game is concerned would be completely original, and I might go as far as to delete the licensed game's fonts/other small assets from the GZDoom files. I've seen other projects released standalone like this (Adventures of Square, Mega Man Deathmatch) just not on steam, is it just too "commercial" that it crosses some legal boundaries?

AFAIK you can use GZDoom for standalone games and stuff now, but we need others to clarify.
