Better than 8+ for sure. Better than XP? Eh, I think this one is far more subjective.

 

I'll always prefer Luna over Aero anytime for instance, XP has (or had, whatever) by far the most memorable interface, sounds, and so on. It was also by far the most colorful. I think XP will still be fresh in my mind decades later. Everything else? Not so much. Hell even Windows 95, since it was my very first Windows OS, will always be very memorable for me as well.

I thought so.

Aero is better than 8+.

Windows 9x has some sort of better Windows Classic interface.

The predecessor to XP has somewhat better Classic interface.

The standard interface of XP was the ugliest Windows ever. Fortunately it still had a Windows 95 skin, but even that looks crusty these days.

The Win95 skin looks unfitting with the icons of WinXP and higher.

@Jerry.C, if you look at XP and 9x from the perspective from Modern Windows, it will look crusty and ugly.
