Best/Worst Heretic Music?

For me the best are tied: E2M6 and E1M6. 

 

Worst is without a doubt E2M8 though. So flat and boring.

E3M2 is my second favourite one!

 

Also there is E1M7 and E2M1, which is also honourable mentions!

Worst : ice grotto or whatever it is called, the horrid ear piercing ice map.

Most of the tracks are equally good so it's hard to pick one.

 

Best: E1M1. E1M2 and E2M2 are close contenders.

Worst: E3M2 would've been good but ends abruptly so it's the weakest.

 

I prefer Sound Blaster music.

No love for Labyrinth, which doesn't surprise me as it's a tense MIDI but in a map built in such annoying way that the MIDI itself becomes annoying and drags the map down. The buildup is really great though.

Hard choice since several of them are great and none stick out as really bad.

Playing the shareware for the first time back in the day, E1M3 particularly stuck in my mind and is probably what I think of most as the iconic Heretic track. E2M3 and E1M8 are pretty strong choices as well.

I guess I don't much like E2M6 nor the intermission music.  E1M9 has the potential to sound awful depending on what sample set it's played back with but it depends, with Sound Blaster OPL it's all right.

I dunno, I think there's only a handful that're even any good at all. Docks, Dungeons, Guard Tower, Cathedral, Hell's Maw, and maybe Graveyard. The rest seem either inappropriate for the style or lazily thrown together.

I think that song goes well with the map. It sounds like a machine but also makes me think of a clash with steel.

E1M9 is pretty sick, E1M4 is pretty shit.

I find the Heretic music a mixed bag, though with more good tracks than bad ones.  Many of the tracks are also very short. 

 

My favourite is between E1M1 and E1M6.  Other strong tracks are E1M3, E1M9 and E2M4.  I'm not very fond of E2M1.

all the other ones i'm indifferent about. i think Hexen is the better soundtrack overall though.
