Cyberdemon model progress.

Recommended Posts

I've started modeling the cyberdemon going off of Fredrik's drawing, and I'll be posting updates in here from time to time.

Here is Fredrik's drawing...

And here are some shots of the in-progress head...

I'm only modeling the general shape, all the fine work, like wrinkles and crap will be done using displacement/bump maps.

They are actually jpgs, I had to rename them to txt files cuz geocities doesn't allow direct linking.
It should view just fine, did you even click on them?

Thanks guys. The icon of sin model is still in progress, but it's really tough going, because I tried to model all the details instead of using bump and displacement maps. I'll still finish it though.
Fredrik, I've never done textures before, maybe I'll take you up on that offer.
And ya, 3dmax has very good poly-modeling tools. What school you go to hammer-stroke?

Woah, that is Very amazing work there, damn your good with the modeling stuff...I envy your abilities and skills, hmmmmmm, I better start listening in school, maybe then I could do sumthing besides dull 2D things...and perhaps do half as good of a job as u did, but I highly doubt that..Meh as long as I have my 2D images...I'm happy enough, for the moment.

Hehe, thx Doom anomaly.
I've been doing this 3d stuff for over 4 years now, so it took me a while to get to this point.

Hammer-Stroke, ya I'm gonna be using bump maps for that sorta stuff.

ey dajuice.. can you post a picture of the poly version.. or do u use nurbs.. because I have some difficulties using meshmooth.. it takes away all my detail in the model.. :/.. I am modeling a zombie for a school assignment.. and now it looks almost like the purple alien tut :P because it took all detail away. could you help me on this?.. or direct me to a turorial? thanx in advance

Orion, here you go...

I just started working on it again 2 days ago, trying to finish it for my demo-reel.

Hammer-Stroke, could you post up pics of your smoothed and non-smoothed zombie? The amount of detail and definition on your smoothed model depends on how dense your poly cage is.

Here are the poly cages for the IoS and Cyberdemon:
