I just played in a couple of servers.

First than all, kudos to the coding team for optimizing the T&L stage in such a wonderful way. The game likes to throw at you some really hi-poly scenes with no discernable culling geometry in between, and it's nice to know that the engine realizes many of the art assets are prefabs used here and there, and not unique geometry. We're talking "this game runs fine in a GF2MX" at max details (the demo's textures are actually mipmaps of the real ones, excluded by filesize limits).

Still, it's not that great. It lacks some polishing, several of the resources look downright dumb, and some effects are missing. But my real concern is mainly a personal thing, I just don't like UT's weaponry. It's for sissies. Nothing feels like it does any real damage at all. And that's sad cause they got it right with several of the weapons in the original Unreal.

The way your model breaks his body multiple times when falling into the scoring pit in the Anubis map is well worth the download :)

Th game looks good! Better than Quake 3, but that is only because of the higher polycount. The architecture is great!

I care, but not enough to download 97.7 Mb - I'll wait for a gaming magazine that includes it. I enjoyed UT for a few months before returning to Doom; it was fun, and not at all repetitive (I never did beat Xan though, dammit). I hope UT2k3 has much-improved bot AI, rather than just better eye candy.

I guess I one of the very few people who liked Q3a a little over UT. Sure UT hand more features, but Q3a IMO was far better when it comes to deathmatch. I don't really get this new online trend with team based games. There are far too many wankers out there and I don't want to work with them, I want to kill them!

It's looking pretty good (but why the fuck don't I see myself in the water???). But for some reason it's pretty slow for me (maybe that's KDE's fault :), I have to play it in 800x600 to get a decent framerate all the time (gets lower than 30fps at some points in 1024x768, unacceptable). I did not yet have a chance to play it online, since the master server seems to be down right now or something.

The only problem with multiplayer games: Other people.
However my firends and i enjoy these once in a while on a LAN. I had my UT craze a while ago, and came to much of the same conclusion that Zaldron did. The weapons feel lame, and are completely unbalanced. I became unholy god of the sniper rifle and the game wasn't fun anymore. Even the Ripper was too easy to get one-hit kills with. bleh, i'm going to DL this new one and pick over it a while.

The engine creates cubemaps for every water brush at the loading stage. These are static. At least there's a rippling effect when you move in there, altough it's not that noticeable.

This is like the 3rd time I've ever heard of this game, so could someone tell me if my p3 600mhz, 128 ram, and geforce 2 v-gts shit can run it decently? And if it's worth the download on a 56k? (before you say no, take under consideration I've downloaded 650mb porn vids with this modem).

It's pretty damn good. Looks great, plays great. The weapons are... colourful. I wouldn't go as far as to call them wimpy or anything - in fact, I think the rocket launcher and lighting gun are very well-executed.

It runs great too, on my GeForce4ti4200 I got this morning :D

I'll try and d/l it, but I'm not fully sure if this cpu can handle it, meh. I have nothing against UT games, I have it for PS2 and I enjoy it alot, just as much as i enjoy my Quake3:Revolution for PS2 Both very good DM games Imho.

Damn! After trying to download it twice it downloads but while it copies the files my cpu crashes!!! and it doesnt work when I try to run it in the directory in which it is saved...Y has thy forsaken me?!?!? *sob* ;)
