     | Good wad with the exception of maps 28 and 30. 28 is "can you straferun for 30 seconds?" and 30 goes against Scythe's short and fun maps and gets overly long, boring and very annoying with its encounters. | x |

     | all these years and Scythe still remains one of the most fun mapsets to date. given their size, there really isn't anything that's truly noteworthy, apart from MAP26 and MAP30 which are slaughterfests in their own right. but this is still a quick mapset to plow through in a pinch. | x |

     | Definitely in my top5 of best WADs ever. It has short and powerful maps, with well thought-out layout and seriously one of the greatest atmospheres I've ever encountered in a Doom WAD. Map19 is probably my most favorite map ever, but that's also due to the song which fits perfectly to the theme. Another great aspect is the monster placement. Also the slaughter maps are pretty neat to play, like map26 and map30. The only negative point is map28 as I couldn't finish it withouth cheating... | x |

     | One of the best megawads ever, and in my opinion, this SHITS on "Scythe 2" which was just a cheap AV-ripoff. Short, fun and action-packed (but not impossibly hard), this is the spirit that more wads should be made in. 5/5 - if you like this you should definitely try the congestion/claustrop hobia 1024 series too. | x |

     | One day short of a decade old, and this is still quite probably the best 'short and sweet' megawad out there. There are a few maps thrown in to please fans of larger, more epic levels but those are mostly the last two and it's makes for a memorable and fitting end to the game anyways. If 40-level megawads were doable, Scythe X would be a great addition to this as well. As it stands I just wish X will be worked on again someday! | x |

     | When the description says the difficulty rises as you go through the maps and the last few should challenge even the best, they really mean it. | Not bad at all, maybe a bit too small and short, not to mention it's very easy in the beginning, but becomes very hard towards the end. Interesting and fun, I could recommend it for the less experienced average Doom players too, veteran Doomers might find it too easy and boring, except for the last few levels.
Level design and textures are OK, music and atmosphere works pretty well, and the whole WAD can be played through in just a few hours.

     | One of the best wads ever. The only thing I don't like about both Scythes is that the last 10 levels are always fucking stupid. I personally don't care for running around like a maniac firing my bfg, running after cell charges, and loading and saving constantly, only to be cornered by some ridiculous amounts of barons of hell or revenants. Like c'mon. You have to keep it more interesting than that. Level design+detail is always good but the maps past map20 are always a waste of space. Still 5* | x |
|

     | Fucking junk! Nothing but a big variation of levels and nice maps to play on, each with their own unique style, then when it fucking gets bad, it starts up again in the middle with insane dumb ass concepts of "slaughter" maps and such! it's so bad that i ended up rating this *****!!!

To prove that the author isn't kidding that these maps are short 'n quick, I must say that I managed to take less that one minute when nomonster speedrunning all but four maps (19, 27, 29, 30). In fact these maps look like speedmaps that weren't made under any strict time limits; in other words, the size is reminding of them, but unlike speedmaps, they are throughly polished. The few bigger levels were great too, despite feeling different. 5/5 | x |

     | Best megawad ever made. Not a single level in this map feels unfinished or overdone. The maps are interesting, and the gameplay is top notch. Even in the last few levels, where you're fighting hundreds of monsters at a time, the levels still flow smoothly.
If garbage like cutscenes and gimmicky scripting is what you're after, go download Zdoom maps. If you want to be "WOW'ed" by big open spaces with stupid amounts of monsters, go play Deus Vult. If you want to play Doom, download this. | x |

     | Truely an awesome wad. Nearly all maps are small (exceptions are 29, 30, ?19), but they all look & play great. Unless you hate small maps, this wad is an absolute don't miss. On a side note, a very clever trick is used in Map28 (Run From It); I had to read some and take a peak in an editor to see how it's done. Basically, there's a seperate Player1 start in an area which can't be reached, and a crusher takes about 30 seconds to reach (and kill) that player. When that player is killed, so are you. | x |

     | This truly is a legendary Doom WAD. Maps 1-20 Aren't very hard, but make for a great evening of solo fun on UV(assuming you are a rather adapt FPS player). Maps 21-30 On the otherhand, are simply stunning to say the least! The maps are all very creative, vary from short and brutal to long and harsh. MAP30 is the hardest DOOM map I have every seen or played, but it remains fun because its possible if you take it slowly! Overall, this is the type of WAD that I would pay money for since it was so well done! | x |

     | I strongly do not agree with the reviewer one nor four times above me. The set was not meant to be really hard right from the start and nor was it meant to take really long to play. Thus this criticism is highly disliked. The set is great and well worth 5 stars (even though Scythe II is even better IMO). | x |

     | I agree with the reviewer 3 times above me. Ep 1 is (too) easy even on skill 4, Ep 2 was challenging, Ep 3 is pure madness. Overall, except map19, 29, 30, the levels are too small in my taste, I went through Ep 1 & 2 in something like 3 hours or so. I had to jump to complete map 28 and to access the BFG9000 secret area in map29. Map 30 is the hardest Doom map I ever played (skill 4), never had a chance to complete it. Despite that, I must admit that the gameplay is fun. 4/5. ~Naan | x |

     | I just played through this set, and while it's admittedly pretty fun, I just don't think it deserves all the hype it gets. The architecture is good in most of the maps and the gameplay steadilly progresses from easy to insanely hard and extreme. But there were lots of maps I didn't like, and only a few that I trully enjoyed. Sorry, short, simple maps with primitive, violent gameplay just aren't to my taste. | x |

     | The author of this megawad has understood what DooM is about. This is by far the best and most enjoyable megawad my doom marine has experienced. The architecture and interconnectedness of the levels are so well designed that player rarely gets confused where to go next. One of the nicest features of Scythe was the consistent style throughout the whole megawad. Also worth mentioning are the beautiful details and Alm's eye for texture combinations - a skill many mappers lack. Scythe deserves at least 7 stars | x |

I'd been anticipating the sequel for nearly a year, and I rushed onto it immediately when it appeared in the archives. But I have to admit, looking back to it, this is still an excellent wad even with Scythe 2 out. | Now this is what I call great quality! The mapping was very good and the gameplay was well balanced; the first levels are very easy and the last levels (especially 26, 28 and 30) are very hard. Another thing I like about this megawad is that the levels are short and sweet. The challenge is quite different from Hell Revealed, Alien Vandetta and Deus Vult, but it gets more similar in the last levels, and that is what makes Scythe unique. Download this now! 5/5 | x |

     | You quit just because the first two levels were pistol (and chainsaw)-only? Do you really have a hard time killing imps and former humans with the pistol? You get a shotgun on level 3, isn't that enough considering the toughest enemy you encounter in the first episode is the Baron? Anyway, this has to be the second best megawad ever (first should be obvious to anyone), so what if there are a couple of misaligned textures - 6/5 stars | x |

     | I never thought I'd say this about any mapset, but Scythe is "cute". Many maps are quick and small and there's something here for everyone: the sneaky type, the crazy type, the speedy type .. and of course it's good for blasting through with a co/op partner. It's almost like a training ground for Doom , where you can work on your skills in a controlled environment. If you pass on this, you'll have missed something great. --5/5 | x |

     | Amazing piece of work. Everything about it is perfect - level design, detail, difficulty, textures (well except the alignment error at the beginning of map 10 :P ). I can't believe anyone would give this lower than 5 stars. | x |
