While it is fun for the most part, its not quite as consistently good as the original Hell Revealed, Alien Vendetta, or even Kama Sutra. I'd honestly avoid maps 6, 14, and 28 altogether.x

Amazlingly a good wad!! I've played it 1 million times and can't wait to play it again!x
Anonymous
This wad was great!!!!What you do dear,is either ask at Zdoom or Doomworld Forums. They might help.x
Anonymous
Mostly good, though they got a bit carried away with doing sequel maps. And some maps are more Plutonia-ish than HR styled.x
Anonymous
Fun, but not for the casual doomer. Really quite difficult, but a joy to playx
Zakurum
Much better and more fun to play than the first one.x
Getsu Fune
OG Hell Revealed was much better. this one had a lot more hitscanner ambushes than demon ambushes in general, and got to the "slaughter with BFG" stuff real quick. LOL at the bridges in MAP19 though. very uneven overall.x
JudgeDeadd
A rather uneven mapset. It has some great maps ("The Chapel of Black Granite"), some forgettable ones and some terrible ones ("Beyond the Sea"). Some, like "Base Blaze", make you question how did they even get into this mapset in the first place. Not exactly as great as the original. x
Anonymous
Monumental and awe inspiring, you'll be proud you made it through! I remember actually experiencing shell shock at some point through this... Together with its prequel, the Greatgrandmother of all slaughter wads!!! 6/5?x

Could have been more faithful to hr (like ksutra was) but this is a damn great megawad on its own. 5/5x

Great gameplay and kickass bgm. 5 stars.x

Another awesome map set, with new music to boot. Also really challenging, and pretty fun to play through (even though there are still a few confusing level layouts). Only play on Ultra-Violence if you're really into challenging gameplay (or you're a masochist). 4/5x

Doesn't look like HR. Homages don't make it look more like HR. Which is good for me, because I enjoyed this tons, and didn't enjoy HR a bit. Grave's music for here is far beyond super legendary, almost as defining as stock music by Bobby Prince.x

One of the best wads I have downloaded. I loved almost every level, and levels were pretty detailed.x

Pretty damn fun megawad - especially in multiplayer cooperative/survival .x
mason1729
Mixed bag. Some great fun maps, while others get a bit boring. Design is adequate for the most part. Music, though good, mostly sound way too melodramatic for the levels. Would've prefered some ROTT/Heretic music instead (I know, they're overused, but they fit HR styled gameplay like a glove). 3/5x

Pssssshhhhh the gameplay is awesome, it seems some people need to brush up on their SP skills before diving into HR2. It's meant to be hard as hell.x

Simply the best game i have ever play in all my life.x

Not the best Megawad in the world, but still brought me hours of fun. It's just that it kinda gets boring after a little while. HR 1 is a lot better. 3.5/5 - KalebNoobMasterx

Shouldn't have been called Hell Revealed 2. With the exception of handful of the maps, the wad just didnt have that HR feel to it. A lot of the maps, particularly the later ones, felt like a drag to play, and simply aren't fun. The music, while decent, particularly sounded too serious, unlike the more fun sounding music from HR1. If you want a real HR2, play Kama Sutra, as that generally captured the HR feel a hell of a lot more than this disappointment.x
Anonymous
Bleeeh, I don't like the gameplay. I don't like the traps on every step. 2 stars - meh.x

Super duper mega awesome. The songs made by Grave are classics too.x

the large number of monster is so ridiculous but this wad is so fun 4/5x

Absolute garbage.x

Possibly the weirdest mapset I've played with. It's got strange levels, strange music etc. and in style it's quite different from the first HR, although I'd might say this one is actually better. VERY hard, but that's the esence of the HR-series. A classic, this is the best wad of 2003 along with Scythe. 5/5x
Anonymous
Looks nice, but sadly it's an average gameplay experience. From around even the first map, they're tedious works of holding "fire" and using obscene numbers of cellpacks/Megasphere s. One of the wads responsible for forcing the standard of "challenging" by adding loads of enemy&ammo spam instead of being creative by rationing ammo and having decent traps because fuck interesting or fun gameplay, lets toss a BFG and 2000 cellpacks among several thousand cybies and revenants every 2 feet.x
Anonymous
fucking shit! even worse than HR I! also the title picture looks like a demon shit! no offence but Hell Revealed (both I & II) are ones of the worst megawads ever!!! STUPID RATINGs, it deserves 3 stars not 4!!! shitty gameplay, stupid graphics (e.g: demon shit, weird font) sorry but 0/5 (Vomit)x
Anonymous
Some visuals may look harsh but the gameplay is definitely there. A killer megawad supplied with an excellent and cohesive soundtrack. 5/5x

I played it more than any other wad, including vanilla IWADs in the old times. Also, it absolutely, really kicks ass with AEoD 6.x

The way the gameplay is set up makes everything predictable, repetetive, and extremely mundane extremely quickly. You do the same thing over and over and over again to the point that it's not even fun to begin with. While it is a good visual piece, that has no merit while one is truly (attempting) to play this. It's really a big disappointment since this was supposed to be a successor to HR1, but it turned out to be Nuts 4.x

Truly a legendary wad. Even better than the first HR. For expert players only *****x
Anonymous
Absolutely epic fun, UV -Fast and taking names, highly recommend this one and the first Hell Revealed if you never played that eitherx
Anonymous
The balance of this wad is terrible. Too many levels that, even on lower difficulties, seem way beyond impossible. I was able to go through most of HR's levels on UV, but here there isn't enough room, and there's way too many demons in my way. Such a shame, I like the music and the levels look nice but that's it.x
Anonymous
Legendary, end of.x
Anonymous
The difficulty mainly consists of monster spam in rooms too small to allow proper movement to deal with the almost always overpowered monsters for the area. I honestly believe that this is a terribly half-assed method of artificially making a mapset more difficult than it truly needs to be in a way that is absolutely unnecessary, and this one abuses that even worse than the previous HR. 1/5 simply because the designers weren't even trying to make a fun wad, just the hardest one they could think of.x
Anonymous
Monster placement reminds me of a jokewad. Archies in the first map and Arachnotrons in the second? Come on, that's not hard. That's just cheap. You'd have more luck beating Mock 2 fair and square without cheating than beating this mess of overpopulated and cramped maps the same way.x
Anonymous
A mixed bag, really. Some maps are really awesome, and offer quite unique concepts and fun challenges, while others are just lazily designed filler levels that are only hard simply because of the monster spam. Not a horrible megawad, but definitely could've been better.x
Anonymous
OMG this is pure awesomeness! Even better than the first HR. Just as hard though... I don't think I could beat it on any higher difficulty setting than ITYTD, but it's great fun and one hell of a challenge even on the easiest... 5*/5x
Anonymous
Who knew an HR map32 could be even harder than the original? I kept hearing about how this is less hard than the original, but the moment I got halfway through the first map I knew it was going to be even harder. This is a damn fine mapset.x
Anonymous
I remember playing this wad a long time ago. In fact, this was my first PWAD I ever played! Also, I'm a DOOM GOD!!! I only died 10 times in the whole WAD. Map 30, 07, 15, 23, 25, 19, and 31 were my most favorite maps. 32 was the hardest map in the bunch. 5/5 - Killer11223346x

MAP15 of this wad is my favorite Doom level of all time. Hell, all 32 of these maps make my top 10 list. Ignore those who compare this unfavorably to AV, or even HR1. 5/5x

I'm sorry, but most of time I have no ammo and i had to killing cyberdemons with shotgun all hours. It's boring! And the archviles in each maps, it sucks! It's really exaggerated! And killing a thousand revenants with chainsaw, it not difficult, its just stupid!x
Anonymous
Weird map. Didn't see a chainsaw, but didn't see a need to save ammo either. I got stuck in a non-damaging unescapable pit, so 2/5.x
Anonymous
Insanely difficult with its hordes of monsters and increasingly complex maps, HR 2 is everything HR was and more. It's a lot of fun (and torture) to play through on the higher-diffulty settings, and I can assure you that you won't be bored! Although, to play ON UV seriously, you should be an expert at Doom, or, at least, close to it because HR 2 will test your skills with each level. Recommended for those who like "monster madness" type WADs, for sure.x

What happens when you morph E4 style maps with E4M2 difficulty + D2 monsters and piss on the original HR which was hard but actually fun? You get HR2, it's overly angsty sequel (for all we know it could be a prequel ala DMC3) that went from challenge the player to just "kill the player on sight". I played UV on the original but I enjoyed it. I consider myself a Doom masochist; HR2 actually hurts.x

This wad is garbage, they play like crap, and look worse. The map design is just plain awful too. 1-5 - Sniper 109x

This wad is not bad, but some of the maps are god damn the worst ever. Around The Inmost Dens II, the map are so bad, its a joke, and it feels that way until 29, which is awesome. Nothing like HR1. 3/5x

HARDCORE!!!!!!!!!!!! ! 5/5x
Anonymous
Awful music. Average gameplay at best. Using a famous wad name and throwing tons of monsters doesn't automatically make a good mapset. Lots of wads do the slaughterfest gameplay right - unlike its predecessor, Hell Revealed 2 isn't on that list. Play if you're a fanboy or bored, I guess ; afterall these maps aren't terrible, just not up to Hell Revealed standards. 3/5x

awesome wad file, works with doom2 v1.9 witch is good(all though it plays much better on a boom based source port...like PrBOOM-PLUS)the levels are vary hard(in a good way)and just flat out awesome level design(this is why it took like a year to make) but imo the first one was better...4/5. x

A major step up from the original hell revealed, both aesthetically and in gameplay. 4/5x

This *might* not be quite as fine as the first HR. It is still great. Lots of gunslinging and making stuff go BOOM. I never found it *too* hard, but then I always enjoy coming up with new ways to attack a given force. I've never had to take on combined arms forces with whole *squads* of archviles before; that added a whole new dimension to Doom combat. Lovely work, guys.x

Prety cool a must download !x

While this was a valaint effort to succeed HR1, I really felt that #2 didn't quite fill the shoes of HR1. There was something seriously lacking in these levels that was present in HR1: maybe the design, maybe attention to detail, or possibly a mix of those together. If you like HR1, it's kinda questionable whether you'll also appreciate this one. 3/5 is my score (attention to detail and monster placement weren't quite there, from what I've experienced).x

HR2 is not better than HR1 but its still great. 5/5x

Who cares about how it looks? I still love this WAD, some levels are plain epic, map 29 "Hell's Cauldron" is pure epicness. Great music, epic setting. Best map 29 I've ever played. Still, nothing beats the insanity of map 32 'Playground'. Still, it is possible on UV... Insane as it might be. HR II is one of the greater megawads out there, even today. HR, AV, MM I, MM II, The Rebirth... All great megawads and HR II can take place amongst them, it deserves it. 5 stars.x

Hell Revealed 2 came to be the long awaited wad that didnt do it for me. Perhaps it was the feel of maps too architecturally "advanced" (yet majorely mundane) for the gameplay it wanted to host, the lacking spark of creativity in the homage maps or the filler levels. Simply put, to me this was overkill and lackluster. Chrozoron holds the highlights with some creative creations like map29. Not enough to save the wad overall however, and it gets a 2/5 from me. -Johnsenx

4-Pretty darn good, yeah! I have a large mole under my right nostrill like madonna, slightly above the corner of the lip...x
Anonymous
Not too bad, except the first few levels aren't really special and a bit formulaic. x
Anonymous
Meh... After finishing it, all I could say is it pales when pitted against AV, Scythe 2 or even Kama Sutra. It's challenging alright, but the design was trully nothing special. In later maps it just becomes a tiresome Bfg-rocket-Ssg grind, I love big battles, but this is, well, it's just a little dissapointing, especially for having way too many HR references in both design and level names, there's just nothing that would make me play it again, so I'll give it a 3. -TeH NeXuSx

I don't mind this style of gameplay, but just like the first HR, the visual quality of some of the maps are rather lacking. This IS possible in UV -fast (hell, I did it with quite a bit of saving), but the gameplay tends to drag. 4/5x

Legendary. Maps all have an impressive gameplay and nice ideas. Music is really, really good. It's better than the original Hell Revealed IMO, and my favorite Megawad ever. Very hard :) 5/5, [WH]-Wilou84x

this is one of the best wads i ever played. full of demons, hard challenging levels, .. brilliant.x
Anonymous
The name comes probably from the fact that HR had monster hordes in the most part, and that the texture theme was quite rigid too. Now it's really limited to desert bricks typical to Doom 2. That said, the levels look dull and monotonous, but are helped by some tense action and catchy death metal midi tunes. Sometimes it's just too much overkill with overguns, tho. 4/5. ICx

*yawn* definately rfollows the feel of the first one. which also lacked.x
Anonymous
This really is one of the best and spiritually truest follow-ups to doom 2. Come on, let's see a Hell Revealed III, now that would be hardcore. 8/5x
Anonymous
Very worthy followup to HR and equally as insane as its predecessor on UV - the fights seemed pretty well calculated and methodical this time around, whereas a lot of HR's were more like running / praying firefights. Music was great, lots of epic levels, but design quality bounced around a bit and a few battles are truly, absolutely unreasonable (though still more than possible). It gets a strong 4 from me 'cause the carnage never lets up.x
Anonymous
mostly the way to create an atmosphere was done by using hordes of monsters, the most maps are not nice and too difficult, 2/5x

Best Doom wad I have I like the music mainly level 24's musicx

Phew!Just finished playing. It's official:among the more famous megawads this is THE most violent.Counting 10612 monsters on UV(342,32258 per map)it surpases Alien Vendetta(counting 10402).Map 32 stops at 1651 monsters. For comparison doom1 episode 1 counts 926(9 maps!!!),while original HR has 6891 monsters. And I didn't count in generated lost souls and Arch-Vile revevings(which are used commonly).I like challenge, butI must say this a bit over the top for me.Still good designs so 4/5.Best maps:15,21,25.x

Brutal! This megawad has some of the most insanely violent and tough levels I've ever played (maps 29, 32, anyone?). Unfortunalety, I think the design pales in comparison to AV and HR1. For me, there were a bit too many maps that were copies of HR1 maps and some others (maps 13, 27 and 15 are actually quite shameless ripoffs). But when you call your megawad Hell revealed 2, you know that expectations will rise beyond any calculations. It's still worth playing though. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.x

An excellent wad and a must-play, but unfortunately not quite as good as the revolutionary original. 4/5 --Woolie Woolx

This wad is truly legendary. Ultra-hard gameplay, tactics, balance, psychology itīs all there "If you are skilled enough" as one reviewer above put it :) Iīll never forget how my hands were shaking in the last room of map 17, or the thrill being chased by ten cybers on map 32, or the grandeur of map 29... 5 starsx

Some levels' architecture is simply astounding, making the levels very engaging. If you are skilled enough, you will have memorable moments of survival when you take on insane odds with your weapon. Unfortunately, like in the original, the designers' go overboard and create levels that are too difficult (and mundane) even on the easiest skills by simply placing too many monsters. By placing a zillion enemies the gameplay is affected adversely, especially for later levels (ie. Map 32). - 4 stars. x

Map 9 is very amazing. Map 32 is OMFG! Insane Hard. May be too much for me, but still deserves at least 4/5. Not as good as hr but very nice sequel anyway.x

Damn beautiful!! After like 2 weeks of playing and 1 hour with the hard maps i can say this pack rocks. Wich is best? mm dunno hr or hr2. both are extreme challenging very funny maps. Is not just killing things, is the monster placement the puzzles the nasty situations and lot of stuff. ck x

Absolutely incredible. I like this way more than HR. Jonas Feragen rocks.x

To be fair, I liked the original more. Something about he original has been lost in HR2. Although an excellent megawad when considered on its own merits alone, HR2 just doesn't measure up to the first Hell Revealed.x

Who is the fake who maded HR2 in 4 stars at 116 votes??? >:( This is strong, hard, and all the levels aren't pointles but map 30 sucks. Map 32 is The HARDEST level i've never played! ! ! (But not like map 19, 25 and 28 in Alien Vendetta) But this map it's so damn good, than Ix

A long-awaited megaWAD is finally here! The maps are as beatiful as they are deadly. The project itself is a testament to the hard work and dedication of a lot of people - especially Andy Olivera, who deserves a standing ovation for bringing this masterpiece to completion. If you want more of the same type of gameplay that made HR and AV so addicting, look no further. Though this doesn't quite live up to all the hype it is a worthy successor of HR, and right up there with the best. --5/5x
