|playerlin||I see no reasons why I should not give it 5/5...Yeah, it has some small glitches and play DooM with Sonic style sometimes just not mixed well but I really love to play this wad, just awesome! 5/5 -playerlin||x|
|Getsu Fune||quite possibly one of the best ZDoom megawads ever conceived, and I'm not even a sonic fan. one zone for two levels, each and every one has some unique gameplay themes, puzzles, secrets, etc. it's also very nice to see the jokes being cracked up every now and then. most of the target boss battles are a bit lame, but I like them anyways. the new monsters give a cool flavor. there are quite a few bugs, but I can work around them just fine.||x|
|RottKing||This really hasn't aged well at all||x|
|havok2000||Pretty solid modification. Loved the level design and the new mechanics, and I thought the new mechanics worked well.
However I didn't like the length and tediousness of the target bosses, but I thought they were all pretty unique. I liked the
cutscene idea aswell, but the opening one was much too long for my taste. Aesthetically it looks pretty damn good, with
some really nice new textures, but during one of the forest levels I found a small HOM error on one of the houses. 4/5
|Anonymous||I had already given this wad 5 stars, but i've reconsidered since. I replayed it w/o using God Mode all the time. The level design is neat, interesting ideas are plentiful, and scripting is done right. But this wad just becomes absolutely brutal towards the end, and not in the good way (blame me for playing on UV). Some puzzles can be tedious and a lil' annoying. Now, this wad has way more good stuff than bad stuff, but some things could have been done better. PRETTY DARN GOOD||x|
|Anonymous||Try this with Doom:The Mercenaries||x|
|Anonymous||I would say that this wad had some good maps designs 4 out of 5 at best. Some maps had some weird hard-to-move-around parts like those target bosses in the sky. Yeah those things were very tedious.
I loved the window effects you did. I also see you used the transfer heights technique to make deep water, it would be better if you used the 3d floors to make water and bridges, that would look better.
4 out of 5 stars||x|
|Anonymous||incredible wad!! iīm always amazed with the power of acs scripting! donīt take care about the haters they are fags that maybe play brutal doom, that game really sucks dinosaur balls.||x|
|Anonymous||I will never forget this wad, it's so unique and has so many good features for a 2004 wad.
tho, sadly I had to load 'n save everytime cause of it's difficult on UV.||x|
|Anonymous||Gotta frag fast. :V||x|
|Anonymous||Platforming in this is abysmal and some bosses are stupidly ridiculous and finicky, yes, but it just has this epic appeal to it -- and I mean that term by its literal definition. A full playthrough will leave you feeling a massive sense of accomplishment, like you really did embark on an awesome journey on the grandest scale.||x|
|Anonymous||Legendary and extremely cool for the awesomeness!
Things, scripts, and sounds are really awesome!
-Super Sonic Doomer,
|Katamori||Masterpiece, with sometimes decent but mostly great design. 5/5 - Katamori||x|
|Anonymous||Excellent megawad! I'm a big fan of Sonic the Hedgehog series, so this is worth 5*! -Doomer95||x|
|Anonymous||playing as sonic makes it better but playing as a big M-1 abrams main battle tank just makes it weird but cool now for m4 sherman||x|
|Anonymous||it's good but I wish you can play as sonic not doomguy oh well just use the one I made
|Anonymous||This is one of those wads that are great, but ignored by most people, which is sad. The new monsters are amazing, every level seems like an adventure, the bonus stages are fun and the bosses are epic (except the final one, which i found quite underwhelming). There are some gameplay flaws, but overall, this is a near-perfect wad that has been judged unfairly. 5 stars ||x|
|Anonymous||Will it ever be a sequel to this please? THIS IS PURE AMAZING!||x|
|Anonymous||Great map..I was surprising with boss map '-'b||x|
|Anonymous||Me being a big fan of sonic, this makes me smile||x|
|Anonymous||Oh i loved to play this wad very much. The levels are good, the enemies are cool and... this game is great. My complain is the target bosses which are boring to fight. But it gets 4 stars from me. ||x|
|Anonymous||If you read the text file it says the wad works in plain ZDoom as well. The only GZDoom feature I can see are the dynamic lights, which I presume were added for people who use GZDoom to play it. Still an awesome wad though.||x|
|Anonymous||For anyone who has played this megawad before, I think you'll be happy to know that TUD has updated the game... looks like almost a year ago. I didn't even know he updated this wad until I re-downloaded the wad out of curiosity. If you want to know what was updated... lets just say it now uses GZdoom features. (Date created, 4-14-11) [This post, 1-14-12].||x|
|Anonymous||No. This doesn't work out the way many thinks it does. It's tedious, boring and the levels are big and ugly. Cacoward? Why on earth would it get? 1/5||x|
|Anonymous||favorite. wad. EVAH!
Favorite video-gaming experience for that matter.
Played it through over 10+ times, getting something new out of it each and every single play-through
10^infinity out of 5 stars!!!||x|
|Anonymous||Mario Sucks And He Should End His Life , Sonic Long Live Forever! over 100/5 ;) from me||x|
|Anonymous||EPIC MEGAWAD did this get a cacoward? It deserves one! There is only 2 downsides. A. The bos in the mines level that raises the water couldnt be shot after the water was fully raised and B. THere isnt a sequel. THERE NEEDS TO BE A SEQUEL! Amazingly it runs along a timeline with fragport but the same bad forces throught the saga. I wanna give it 20/5 :D A must have for everyone!||x|
|Anonymous||Just ignore the horrendous moving platforms that don't pull you along with them, and maybe edit the dialogue, and replace the boss and pre-boss music with their Jet Force Gemini equivalents, and you have an excellent wad. As far as the target-based bosses, they were repetitive and annoying, but the volcano one was actually entertaining. 4/5||x|
|Anonymous||Grabbed file/doesn't work well.
Placed files into C:DOOMSzdoom-2.5 .0
what do I get?
A single "SONIC" banner page and nothing else new or different.
It would be nice if this WAD really worked.||x|
|Anonymous||This is soo awesome :)) Make a Shadow The Hedgehog doom after that lol 5 stars ||x|
|Anonymous||5/5 Perfect Sonic-Doom fusion||x|
|Anonymous||Ambitious, but basing a mod that almost entirely revolves around jumping in ZDoom is one of the worst ideas anyone could have ever had. Terrible, terrible dialogue and repetitious target-based bosses that are colossal speed humps only lower enjoyment further and detract significantly from the occasional flash of brilliance. 1/5||x|
|Anonymous||Given the amount of work that went into this, it's actually rather sad that it is absolutely no fun to play. The whole concept is an outright failure, with some rather desperate attempts to salvage the train-wreck with large-scale battles, "bosses" and "challenges" that only serve to prolong the agony. TUD should have abandoned this project at an early stage, as soon as he realized he was onto a loser. And he did realize that, surely?!||x|
|Anonymous||I like the bosses, they are very innovative. In fact, everything about this wad is innovative. I love the story progression and your take on a space-base type level. The only problem is that some of the maps are a little too confusing, but I guess that is unavoidable since only one person was making 35 maps. You basically took everything that was wrong with Fragport and made it right!||x|
|Anonymous||This make me remember some old games... Really cool wad! 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||5/5 This is very good||x|
|Anonymous||It's good. 4/5. I doubt it deserves all the flaming it's been getting. Even if some of the levels are brutal and tedious, it's got some very good-looking levels.||x|
|Anonymous||Very interesting and priginal idea to realise the Sonic atmosphere, I think author had done it. But there are some bugs with killing the monsters 4/5 -Dragon Hunter||x|
|Anonymous||The best megawad I've played 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||Obviously a ton of work went into this, and the result, while not flawless, certainly didn't dissapoint me. If you like Sonic and you like Doom, you can't do much better than this.||x|
|Anonymous||Gets old fast.||x|
|Anonymous||Pretty cool idea. The bosses kinda suck though. 4/5||x|
|Anonymous||This is my favorite Doom WAD of all time. While there are problems with graphical bugs and I have a problem toward the end of Ocean City Zone Act 2, it is still one of the most fun WADs out there. I also agree that the dialouge can be pretty lame at times too. However, I love the Sonic elements; the music, the monitors, the rings, the target-based bosses. I love the new enimies, and the fact that the Quake 2 railgun is in this is awesome! This needs a sequel, seriously. 5/5
|Anonymous||amazing and very unique wad. I only had a problem with the volcano zones which had eruptions very frequently so I'd spend most of the level waiting for the screen to stop shaking! Other than that, many detailed locations. The space levels in the end are my favorites. 5 out of 5!||x|
|Anonymous||AWESOMELY AWESOME GREAT I LIKE THE 7 DEADLY SINNERS||x|
|Anonymous||Oh my god, these were good memories. This is level set is so fucking epic. 5/5 - D.O.B||x|
|Anonymous||People who are downrating this are just probably jealous and or too stupid to make something like this on their own. 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||this wad works but it is good||x|
|Anonymous||Other than weird nostalgia, there are zero redeeming qualities to this mapset.||x|
|Anonymous||Jeez! The people who just call this wad "downright crap" obviously haven't played it through all the way, or are idiots! Anyways, this wad is extremely detailed from the lettering on buildings and doors, anti-gravity, fog, swimming, etc. Unlike classic doom, you actually feel like you're in a reactor or hellish temple. My only gripe is that one room in level 28 slows down a lot, but since you can simply "noclip" around that, I don't mind. I give it a spirited 5 out of 5!||x|
|Anonymous||great memories Super-Fuck 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||It's kinda cool, but it doesn't really work with the latest version of ZDoom or GZDoom. It's still a great wad though.||x|
|Anonymous||Gets less and less fun as you play. It starts out okay, then goes downhill from there.||x|
|Anonymous||Underrated. Even with this many votes. Level design is bright, extremely creative and diverse, and they are CONSISTENTLY fun to play. The Sonic elements are just icing on the cake. This level set is EPIC, and is a long, involving journey. Legendary sounds about right. 11/5||x|
|Anonymous||One of the best ones, don't be fooled by the simpleness of the first few maps ;) this one is AWESOME.||x|
|Anonymous||I went "WTF!?" many times as I tried to wrap my mind around the incredibly weird concept of this megawad. But I found that it was well crafted, and despite being very difficult at times as well as making my PC stutter (which shouldn't happen...), I found this to be very enjoyable. But I haven't finished it yet. Five stars, I WISH I could make WADs a quarter as good. --Crazee Boy||x|
|Anonymous||Most original idea, and great maps! 5 stars||x|
|Anonymous||SRB2 is better..XD||x|
|Anonymous||This gets 5 stars just because i said it does.||x|
|Anonymous||Outstanding effort, can't complain much, aside from a rather unfortunate slowdown on a later level...||x|
|Anonymous||fucking awsome - Xolzo 5/5
|Anonymous||Very decent, creative WAD. Last boss is the best. 5/5 -Infurnus||x|
|Anonymous||omg, for the people who say that this sucks, you suck
this is so alsome i took one look at the script in xwe and i throught (wow, and my p.c handled this?)
Your the best editor in the world, for the mean time. The Ultimate DooMer Deserves a caco awerad :) 598723987/5||x|
|Anonymous||Cool Wad. I love it!!!!!!||x|
|Anonymous||COOL! Awesome! 6/5||x|
|Anonymous||I really like it... Bosses are great. But sometimes it become quite boring for me.
And I need to use idclip quite often because of frequent bugs. Great but could be better ;) 4/5 - Damned||x|
|Anonymous||What a cool WAD!! I love it but it takes a lots of disk space..||x|
|Anonymous||Kind of weird,but very fun with sonic elements.
Imagination is great for making doom mods.||x|
|Anonymous||This truely is a legendary wad. Although some scripts might not have worked... I used 'God' and rocket jump to push my way through since movement was disabled..heh... Anyway, Doom & Sonic fans will really enjoy this memorable Zdoom TC. In the words of the great Adam Sessler---I give this a 5... out of 5. -DooMarine/Rozzle Man||x|
|Anonymous||VERY good mapping, particularly levels like the warships go well with the story (simplictic though it is). Nice scripting, but I couldn't figure out all the secrets and some of the bosses are just impossible. My major gripe is that it seems VERY heavily biased towards the mouse users. Some of the target bosses are virtually impossible for any keyboarder; I godmoded through many of these. And do us a favor and hire a quote writer who's over 10 years old, please.
Nice concept, OK execution. 4/5 -NetNomad||x|
|Anonymous||Excellent concept, OK execution. Some of the music feels out of place (cutesy doesn't work when you're breaking things and killing people), many of the bosses aren't very good, and the dialogue is either funny or lame (the best lines: "I know you.You're the Firestarter!" "And I know you. You're dead. Goodbye."). Overall a very good wad, but not quite one of the alltime greats.||x|
|Anonymous||absolutely beautiful, graphics, gameplay, and even the story 1000/5||x|
|Anonymous||So if somebody hates something that means they have to do better? That is a very, very stupid comment, anyway 5 stars.||x|
|Anonymous||I would like to see sonic's face in the status bar and uhhh why not make it so that you can jump on enemys but other then that this wad rules.||x|
|Anonymous||Well hell dude if u hated then thats means u can do better, o yea, I really doubt u can do better
>_< . really good especially when u think of the limitations of the DOOM engines. look back and remember DOOM when all it was was a FPS with like no real story. this guy made a story with cut scenes :D 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||This wad fucking sucks, waste of time, and I hate it! NOT. 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||Although the zone boss battles can be lame (I can see he tried, though), everything else including a step away from the same old, same old makes this game feel like an arcade game all over. I get some scripting bugs, but it may be my version of ZDoom.
I do live under a rock, by the way. :) 5 out of 5. --prdarkfox||x|
|Anonymous||Great megawad! 5/5
And to those of you getting the script error - try another version of Zdoom!!!||x|
|Anonymous||Fair stuff. Much work into it, but a few scripted events seem to be buggy (esp. triggers). So I nned to noclip quite often. Sonic isn't everybody's taste, but it works for me. 3,5/5||x|
|Anonymous||Take two well know franchises and collide them at 100mph, Super Sonic Doom looks and plays like the result. UD can do better than this :(||x|
|Anonymous||Is fine, it works. wise design. Sonic Bosses suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuucks hard. I prefer doom marine oriented act bosses all the way.
|Anonymous||It's solid and enjoyable in small doses, and surely deserves to be remembered as an innovative design. But it's also obviously rushed in several places (graphical errors, mismatched messages, etc). The basic combat is mediocre--the meat of the thing is the exploration and the boss battles, which are sort of "combative puzzles." In the end, I just can't quite reconcile the atmosphere of DooM (dark, spooky, tense) with that of Sonic (bright, cheerful, facetious). Perhaps some others can. 3/5. -TDotW ||x|
Those sonic bosses and enhanced monsters.
Insert doom marine AAAHHHHHHRRRGGGGG right there. 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||I am impressed TUD. This wad is one of the best works of immersion I have seen. I thought that this is a unique idea and you have succeeded in acheiving it. 5/5 -kirby||x|
|Anonymous||Quality effort from The Ultimate Doomer, however, I'm going to have to dock it one star because of gameplay issues. Other than that this wad rocks. 4/5||x|
|Anonymous||Loved it. Make another one. ||x|
|Anonymous||so alsom i can taste it -Edward850||x|
|Anonymous||This is a Legendary megawad. And if you dont like this, you must live in a rock - Roy||x|
|Anonymous||Don't really think it "works". 2/5||x|
Doom is just open a door strafe and kill with sombe puzzles but This is almost another game.
Dont like the later sonic typo bosses. But 5/5 for the idea and mapping design ||x|
|Anonymous||You either like it or hate it, and I like it. I can see that it has some things that some players don't like in it, but for me I'm always open to new, innovative ideas. D/L it, play the first few zones, and if you like the styly keep playing, if you don't like the style, quit and find another wad to play. For me it is a 5 of 5. Great work!||x|
|Anonymous||Ok so it's got Elements of Sonic The Hedgehog in it. Big deal. Frankly I hated the Alien Series TCs, but that doesn't mean all of them sucked.
2 years worth of work in this one, you have to applaud. I would of given up on the idea within a week.
Still it's cool. You can't knock a guy down for trying something different, besides all the "DM" maps being made day in, and day out.||x|
|Anonymous||Yes, the concept is unconventional, but the end result is a great game with some truly memorable moments. The score system and boss battles are excellent, even if sometimes tedious, and the zones themselves are varied and unique. While this megawad tends more toward puzzle/exploration levels (don't get me wrong, there's still plenty of combat to be had), if you like that sort of thing--and you have a relatively good comp--it's one hell of a ride. 5 out of 5. The only glaring flaw? No casino zone.||x|
|Anonymous||Very awesome. Omit the jokes and humourous stuff, the project is simply quality. Excellent example of how the maps can be made to look very good while not necessarily being filled to the rim with detailed architecture. Excellent work, master of innovative concepts! 5/5 -NMN||x|
|Anonymous||I have no idea how anyone can take this seriously. The levels are just big and ugly, and the sonic 'elements' just clash together terribly. 1/5||x|
|Anonymous||Just because it's a ZDoom megawad doesn't make it any good. Mostly big, boring and ugly, the scripted dialogue is atrocious, and the idea of making a Doom megawad with random Sonic elements thrown in is just weird. Some of the bosses are neat, but I would never be able to just play this thing through for real.||x|
|Anonymous||TEH LOTS OF STARS AND STUFF.||x|
|Anonymous||great megawad 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||Cool. Awesome stuff dude.
