the classic 1024 map, many maps play quite well, others get cramped really fast.x

It's ok tbh. Very few maps are actually memorable and a lot of the gameplay is annoying rather than difficult. Still some good maps here and a nice OST. 2.44/5x

Pretty good for the limitation. Some maps were extremely cramped in movement however.x

1024 was a good starting point in 2005 but it does lead to crampedness that will annoy some. So I think nowadays 2048 is the more balanced limit (which has me interested in PCCP2, but that's for another topic). Plenty of nice maps here still, if you don't feel too cramped - and a good debut into the whole limited map space concept that still shows up from time to time a decade later.x

It's okay. x

Very very good. Sometimes they're too congestive and other times its the right amount. Most of the time its the latter, and its a very fun wad.x

This is an interesting concept, some of the maps are good and I had fun with them, some were too easy (all maps until 9, excepting 7), some were TOO FUCKING HARD (10,11 and 12) as I was very low on health most of time in these maps, I kept dying (around 20-30 times) because there was no health around and kept me starting some levels with very low HP if I managed surviving! At least ArchViles in later levels weren't a problem. Played with AEOD 6.02. Final verdict: 4/5 -Doomer95x

Thanks for the Wad! :D! I LOVE DOOM! Are you guys still working on wads? :ox

Now, this is very inventive in demonstrating how a level can be great even with little room available. If only it had been playtested a bit more... 'Cause balance is fairly off in the latest levels. A well deserved 4 stars, though. -- x_MaimerFagen_xx

Great idea, great execution. There are many fun, challenging, creative little maps here. The difficulty does increase as it goes on, of course. Some maps on UV can be downright intense. The health is sparse at times. I never really had an issue with ammo though. And I didn't really have too many problems on map 30. A few of the other maps I had a lot more difficulty with. A couple of the maps are glitchy on zDoom. Not perfect, but overall definitely worth playing. 4/5x

This WAD's main gimmick (The mapmakers limited themselves to having all playable space be inside a 1024x1024 area) leads to a complete pack filled with 32 well-designed, fun to play levels. 5/5x

You thought Alien Vendetta was good? This wad freakin kicks its ass. Alien Vendetta had good maps but not all were good and it didn't keep my attention for long. When I begin playing this, I couldn't stop! The maps arent too big or too small and the atmosphere is great and level design is so damn detailed.x

Really interesting concept, beautiful maps... Gamplay-wise, too many life-sucking enemies + too cramped + too little health = much too difficult for me. Even on easy skills. Bummer. -Bishopx

I've got to say personally, I like this 1024 megawad the least of the bunch. But it has many very good maps, and can be a good ground for how to expand a level without making things cramped.x
Anonymous
Excellent. Gets really hard near the end, but I like that :) Just the right amount of detail.x

The maps may be small, but the are full of incredible details and fantastic gameplay!x

4/5 - Each of these levels plays like a discrete puzzle box. Some of them play like a compacted normal level, like many of the early maps, and others utilize the given space for waves of encounters in a constantly expanding arena. Many are incredibly difficult on UV, but just like Dragon's Lair, if you stick with it you'll generally persevere. 11, 23, 24 and 30 were my problem areas. There's just too much bullet hell for me. My favorites were 27 and 32. - KMX E XIIx

Clever, charming, and even kind of cute, "Congestion 1024" is one of the more creative WADs out there. I never expected a bunch of small-medium maps with only 1024x1024 of playing space to be entertaining, but this proved me wrong! I also love the new music :). Great work! 5/5x

I agree with some of the points made by previous reviewers: a few gems here(16,26,32), but also alot of average/annoying (30?) or even downright buggy maps (23). The thought I had often while playing was: it's a #*&!@ing shooter, so why is the ammo that sadistically tight ?! But that seems to be quite trendy nowadays... 3.5 rounded to 4*x

Seems to be mostly experimental play amongst levels where you HAVE to take damage, get bounced around by jagged edges, and can't see what you're shooting at because of height variation. At least one map doesn't actually work in ZDoom. Some great maps here (5,14,20) but most are skippable. MAP30 is idiotic, nobody could finish that. 2/5x

This and Claustrophia 1024 are great.x

An interesting concept, executed well. Some of these maps are really harsh, but IMHO that's a feature, not a bug.x

This is one of my all-time favourites! 5/5 - Svartravn Sx

Soulless. Most levels of mediocre quality, with a few gems in-between. For the majority, the gameplay gets lost between clusters of useless and aesthetically displeasing detail. Someone has to stand up for the road-kills (unavoidable medikits) and overuse of endangered species (arch-viles).x

On paper it doesn't sound like much...turn up the hardness with -fast and pistol starts and you have an interesting challenge. Some maps struggle for ammo (and map 10 doesn't have enough without the secret) but aside from that pretty good. I'm sure it would fail hard if not played from pistol start though.x

One of now two excellent megawads in this style; this one is a bit inferior to the other one (Claustrophobia) on detail, but it still looks pretty nice and plays just as well. I really love the 1024 concept of maps; short, refreshing, but sometimes intense levels. 5/5, easily.x

Some very nice and some not so nice maps in this pack! If you can get lost in a map only 1024*1024 in size, something has to be seriously wrong *coughmap22cough*. Oh and map30 is pure shit!!! 3/5x

Wow what a fun megawad, one of the best ones I've played recently. Each level here is short but quite detailed, and not too hard with some great gameplay. I'm about halfway through the set right now, the only one I really didn't like much was MAP11, couldn't figure it out for the life of me and was just uncomfortable. I highly recommend this to people who have short attention spans, like me. :D 5/5x

Not bad, but most maps are average, and the rest are bad. It should be played, just because some levels are really creative, and there are a few that are REALLY awesome, like map 32. Map 30 is the best last level I've ever played IMO, along with Kama Sutra's. Most maps were just smaller versions of maps.x

Proves that maps don't have to be huge and epic to be incredibly fun. Like any community project, this is a bit of a mixed bag, but there were only one or two levels I really didn't like. Makes me excited for the next 1024 release. 5/5x

Very good wad, just played through it. My favourite maps are Focus 2, House of Shadows, Monday Morning (because all three consist mostly of narrow passages, making the map seem much larger than it is) and Bantam, because the medieval theme reminded me of Quake. I did notice that towards the end the project seemed to have run out of steam a bit. The maps were still pretty, but they were nothing more than very small Doom2 maps with nothing to make them stand out from the crowd. Still worth a 5/5 though.x
Anonymous
^ There's not a lot that can be done about that, given the point of the project. =P Anyway, this is a fantastic set of maps...the small sizes of the maps make for intense gameplay, and it can be entirely completed in less than a couple hours. Beautiful work! 5/5x

Nice map, although some of them seem too small. Good job. :)x

Started off impressively, but got progressively worse. Some of the last maps are downright broken, and several maps you can't get all 100%. A couple of the last levels your survival depended more on luck than skill, which is quite frustrating. Probably the best map on there is map 32, though. It's unfortunate; there are some really great maps, but the terrible maps really bring down the overall experience.x

32 maps of awesomeness. Never would have guessed that small maps could be this fun. 5/5 -Dancsox

Lots of fun, memorable little maps. Something about this style of map is just so much fun to play. Can't remember any bad maps here, only lots of excellent ones. MAP32 aka Nullspace Junior, however, is the only one that meets Scythe 2 quality and is one of the very best Doom maps ever released. Astonishing visual design, and superb gameplay. 5/5x

There are alot of Congestion problems in this wad. Space can be very limited in some of the levels. This is a very hard wad to play due to the amount of Former Humans and tougher monsters and lack of health in some maps. Most of the levels look great but some are a bit overdone. This wad is worth the download, it provides an excellent challenge. 4 Stars -pcx

Never knew such nice and fun maps could be made with 1024*1024 format. 32 of them too! Nice levels if you are bored during a coffee break, or if you are tired of huge, sprawling levels. 5 stars!x

Nice, and thats putting it lightleyx

Much buggier than it should be, given the small size of the maps.x

Three maps of this set made PrBoom crash, so I cannot comment on them. The rest was really great, though. Definitely one of this year's best! -- 5/5x
