|Anonymous||Taking the player's weapons away from them is a quick way to getting no more than 2 stars for your wad.||x|
|Anonymous||Great mod! Had fun playing this.
|Anonymous||Xaser you are indeed, one of the greats in doom works||x|
|Anonymous||I miss old days with this wad 2006 great work I hope I can find more wads like this one. p.s. to those fans and haters of brutal doom shut the fuck up I didn't come here to read your stupid comments and I don't care about your fucking drama this place for ratting not for flaming you flaming scum now get the fuck out you disgrace to doom community have a good day.||x|
|Anonymous||so you get to reload your guns in doom now... yippie! 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||Personally the reload script and weapon coding is a little more convoluted and complicated than it needed to be, even for 2006. But hey, that means nothing while I'm actually playing! It sucks though that the weapons only work in the supplied maps. However, that can easily be fixed by moving the weapon scripts into a singular lump and telling zdoom to load it all the time with LOADACS. Lose the maps and it will get 5 stars.||x|
Fact that you got reloading at a time when it wasnít possible is amazing, as was Hell's Battery. However:
Weapons lack the punch to take down enemies; clip sizes too small. New enemies are too broken to be fought in such cramped rooms. Too many monsters at once, donít work together in the level.
Level design is cramped, disorientating, and ugly (texture alignment). Wandered lost as loud techno devoured my sanity. Final boss was meh: spamming monsters and non-telegraphed attacks.||x|
|Anonymous||it's OK... I guess. definitely doesn't feel nor plays like old doom. can't say that I'm impressed by level design and sometimes cheap difficulty. weapons are well made and fun, new monsters tend to be cheap and annoying. I can see why some like this so much tho, and why it felt so fresh some years back ... just, I didn't find it very fun to play.||x|
|Anonymous||It's a Xaser wad so you know it has to be awesome. :D||x|
|Anonymous||Brutal Doom is better than getting a nail through your foot, but not better than this. Sgt Mark IV is too busy being an arrogant loudmouth angry racist to make a decent WAD.||x|
|Anonymous||05 brutal doom is better||x|
|Anonymous||I'm kinda late in writing this review, since I finished ZD a while back. New maps, all new weapons, new music, and some new monsters definitely make it worth playing. I had trouble getting the weapon reloads to work at first, but it was an easy fix. Highly recommended to anyone hunting for GZDoom WADs out there. -JL||x|
|Anonymous||Xaser, you did an amazing job. When people ask which gameplay/weapons mod they should try out, Zen Dynamics is always on people's suggestions lists for a reason. I just beat it, and used "map map08" to get to Core Zero and holy fuck, hard, bloody action and great visuals...ONLY bug I had was map7 where some of the weapons aren't selectable (the streetsweeper shotgun and flamethrower weapon), which kinda made the final boss hard as fuck lol. Beatable though. Lots of quicksaving in that one... 5/5 5/5 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||^Good move, now everything is explained. However, that also calls for a potential for these weapons to be exported into a weapons mod with the coding power of today. Then we could rid this mapset of its crud maps. 4/5||x|
|Xaser||Xaser here. Commenting on my own wad to point out that Zen predates all other push-to-reload systems in ZDoom. It was made an in era where neither LOADACS nor CustomInventory existed, so map-included ACS libraries were the only way to go. Thankfully the concept's been much-refined since.||x|
|Anonymous||Love everything about this mod, and the music is so beautiful.||x|
|Anonymous||This comment section is fucking horrible.
5 stars for execution and design, minus one for level design and difficulty (which aren't at all -bad-, but are my cup of tea even less so). -Lioyd||x|
|Anonymous||The problem with this as a mapset was that there was no room to maneuver ever, and there was no thought put into ammo/health balance or monster placement at all. I frequently found myself stuck in a 64-unit wide hallway with no ammo faced up against a Hellknight or higher-level monster with no ammo left and no way to keep from getting killed.||x|
|Anonymous||so you get to reload your guns in doom now... yippie! 0/5||x|
|Anonymous||The maps aren't the best, but everything else is. Good mix of monsters and weapons plus plenty of difficulty = win.||x|
|Anonymous||The dual plasma smgs alone gets this at least 4 stars. I liked how all the weapons were made with a specific dynamic in mind so that there isn't really one weapon that stands out among the rest and is used isntead of the rest, just like in the original doom. Because you actually have a mind for balancing, I would give you 5 stars. As it stands, the maps weren't the strong point and so deduct one point. Maybe make a patch with better maps sometime soon?||x|
|Anonymous||Personally the reload script and weapon coding is a little more convoluted and complicated than it needed to be, even for 2006. But hey, that means nothing while I'm actually playing! It sucks though that the weapons only work in the supplied maps. |Anonymous||Awesome wad and scripting. But it's kind of short. I want to see a sequel to this Xaser. 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||This was pretty good "all-round" to me. I honestly did not mind the maps, even if they weren't the strong point. 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||When clicking on 'random file' i thought i was going to get some random wad which was obviously made ny someone who doesn't know how to edit.
.... boy was I wrong.
This is a very excellent wad! Great levels, great weapons, awesome enemies! 5/5!!||x|
|Anonymous||Yes, Xaser, we love it when you recycle old shitty maps. Yes, Xaser, we definitely love it when you halfass reloading scripts using ACS and not Decorate. Yes, Xaser, we ansolutely love it when you get about a hundred other people to do the work for you while you sit on your ass and get all the praise!||x|
|Anonymous||Well, the maps are cramped as fuck. The new monsters are broken as hell. The weapons are good though. The story is lol. 3/5||x|
|Anonymous||It's not very innovative. Why? Because 90% of the weapons in this mod are just stupid machine guns!||x|
|Anonymous||this is great! one of the best out there! Xaser is the best weapons modder ever. even though most of the levels were taken from mmscraps and redone to make them look really good. overall i though this was one of Xaser's finest works of art. 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||You do not need ACS to reload weapons. Using ACS to hack your way into a reloading script that can be perfectly done (and already done several times over) in decorate is fail on a truly epic level.||x|
|Anonymous||GOOD WAD!! PERHAPS A LITTLE OVERRATED||x|
|Anonymous||Excellent game play!!!||x|
|Anonymous||i like it so much but i think itīs overrated||x|
|Anonymous||Zen Dynamics is great because I like how Xaser made it so hard. Not just because of the monsters and the fetish for cramped corridors but because of the minute amount of health and armor and ammo like he never had someone playtest the damn thing. Itís great to see that Xaser only made hardly half of the stuff in there and even better that he admitted it in the readme! Itís also nice that he made the weapons so they only worked in the supplied levels, something that Zero Tolerance had succeeded in fixing!||x|
|Anonymous||levels o.5, monsters 0, weapons don't work like doom2's so none fur them. stroyline 5, midis 4.
overall: about 2, so it could be improved. itz a cool idea, but u went overboard Xaser and fucked that up by making it WAYYY too hard. 'Mah Epik Wad' WILL improve that -David||x|
|Anonymous||The wad is way too hard even on skill 3. It is a bunch of fucking cheats and shit when I play.||x|
|Anonymous||I have to say this is by far the best WAD I've ever played. The reloading of the weapons make it a challenge to keep cover as you would in real life while reloading. The maps actually require thought and strategy to complete and not just running through them like other wads. The new monsters are even stronger than the original ones. The gameplay is very beautiful. I used to play a variety of wads now the only wad I really play is this one. 5 stars--LordSyn||x|
|Anonymous||Absolute Genius. The Weapons are memorable and unique. The Monsters are embeded well. The Storyline is amazing. The Atmosphere is pure gold.
1- First Machete Kill
2- That bastard scientist
3- Hell. It's just not fair.
-And a side note for the White Skull. I'm running Skulltag 97D5, and I've found that if you shoot the white skull "first", then the frequency of Blue-Flame slowdown drops. Can someone test this with a similar port...||x|
|Anonymous||High production values, but a few oddities. Level design is not great, it's often hard to tell where you're meant to go next for no real reason. You lose all your weapons at one point in the game for no other reason than "doom 3 did it", according to the readme.
Overall, there's a lot of effort that's gone into this and it's a nice change. It's just not especially good. Also, there are quite a few sound effects stolen from Half-Life.||x|
|Anonymous||That's amazing! For once a mod without just weapons or new maps. This one actually takes it up to the next step. I love the weapons and honestly even though the levels were a bit annoying from time to time I loved the challenge overall. Plus the machette was probably my favorite weapon :D. And the opening scene just amazed me because it's been a while since I've seen one like it. I had to give this 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||Nice weapons and gameplay, but the level design..... 3.5/5||x|
|Anonymous||... one word.... awesome!!!!!!!
the best prject i've EVER SEEN. i still dont get it how you displayed map00 on the menu. i hope i'll ever know. also the camera movement jest exelent! fake 3D! all putted together makes:........wait.. .. just a moment...... yeah...... here it comes:..... yeah?......yeah!!!!! : ZEN DYNAMICS!!!!!!!!
xaser... you came ... you saw... and you kicked our asses!
|Anonymous||Played up to shadowrun and will probably finish it later. It is a good showcase for the new weapons, but it gets kind of old quick (Though I really like the dual plasma smgs). Don't like some of the cramped level design. All in all I really like Psychic a hell of a lot more than this, but it's still an impressive effort! -Nomad||x|
|Anonymous||so good i feel i should paying money to play this, its perfect||x|
|Anonymous||This is awesome. Needs to be longer so there's even more of it. The music, the second boss and the attacks of the new enemies remind me a bit of vertical scrolling shoot-em-ups, specifically danmaku (curtain fire or "bullet hell") shooters, which is awesome.||x|
|Anonymous||Xaser is pure god! PURE GOD! He is da' BEST OF ZEM ALL!||x|
|Anonymous||Very nice job.||x|
|Anonymous||2 Words: Bad Ass! Xaser, your mods are kick ass. Let me just say that right now. 5 bad ass stars!||x|
|Anonymous||One of the best Zdoom wads I've ever played. 5/5
|Anonymous||5/5!!! Realistic DooM play!!! Absolutly love this TC. Comparable to 3057 blue hub. Weapons fit right into the game. Music could be better, but i'm not gonna count that since the whole thing is so amazingly done. Takes ZDoom scripting to the absolute max!!! -r_rr.||x|
|Anonymous||I think the music was kind of horrible, but the rest of the wad was awesome.||x|
|Anonymous||5 stars for managing to figure a third firing button, used here for reloading. You are correct in saying that this map is a class above.||x|
|Anonymous||Definantly one of the best wads ever created.||x|
|Anonymous||what can I say? this is one of the best piece of work ever made... 6/5, but maps are kinda small :P||x|
|Anonymous||the wepons have too little max ammunition, the wads too short,and if you take a weapon out of it you either have to take the script or modify the decorate file. option #2 is easier, but i see you don't want anyone to take the weapons.(whoops, i already took 3 of them!)All in all, it's a good wad,and the final boss sucks... 3/5- Mohaa555||x|
|Anonymous||For some reason... I don't like this as much as your other wads...
Don't hit me for saying that, it's really frickin awesome as it is, but... what is that thing that's so lacking???||x|
|Anonymous||this is by far the best was that i have ever played for doom. period. i hope/wish/want to see more wads coming from you in the future. the realoading for the weapons is what i like best. it made the game more realistic to me.||x|
|Anonymous||I'm going on the upvote||x|
|Anonymous||This wad has "Teh Sekkrit of win". It's Really Awesome. 5 stars for you, Xaser! -Stalker||x|
|Anonymous||Preety unique in the sense of weapon reloading (even if it gets time to get used to them), monsters (some are quite annoying though, overall gfx/animation/partic les, though it gets easilly annoying especially with the excessive frame rate drop in some places :P 4/5 - Optimus||x|
|Anonymous||Great wad. 4/5.||x|
|Anonymous||You are a god among men at the weapons.||x|
|Anonymous||The ZDoom Revolution is too modest a title for something as stunning and incredible as this.
|Anonymous||gotta find a way to put this shit on my xbox 360.||x|
|Anonymous||Hey Xaser, you credited half of the doom community, but didn't mention me for the textures you borrowed from Rebirth and Castle Nevermore :/
Anyway, despite the mediocre level design this is an awesome wad; fun gameplay, great new weapons and quite interesting monsters! **** -Vader||x|
|Anonymous||Quick, someone find a way to just use the weapon set, the level design is so-so. using this weapon set would make playing custom wads more awesome.||x|
|Anonymous||OMFG THIS WAD IS GODLY.!
a 32 level total conversion would be really mind blowing. 6 stars.||x|
|Anonymous||Does anything even come out of those mancubus blob ball things that sit on the ground and hang or am I wasting ammo on them?||x|
|Anonymous||If only the level design was better, it would have been one of the best wads ever made. Still, it's an impressive work (especially for weapons realoding and alternate firemodes). Awesome idea and scripting partially ruined by some below-than-average gameplay moments (even if there are some other great moments; in particular, bosses absolutely ROCK).
|Anonymous||Best wad ever.||x|
|Anonymous||average level designs, too many monsters, but had to be the best features iv ever seen implemented in doom (reloading, objectives, weapons, effects)
5 stars just for the ideas and design of them alone||x|
|Anonymous||FINALLY! A WAD WITH AN IN DEPTH STORYLINE!!! thank you thank you thank you for putting so much time into the story line. This wad rocked.||x|
|Anonymous||Freaking awesome. Why it didn't win a Cacoaward is beyond me. Oh well. Play this now or you serioualy fail it in life. 5 stars.||x|
|Anonymous||Zen Dynamics: A ride of ZDoom that takes you to realms beyond this world. Play it now as proof that you have lived for something good.
|Anonymous||Hey, I betatested this, it ruled then, it rules now, PLAY IT! ~CSon||x|
|Anonymous||The gameplay is quite poor, I hate the over use of the monster resource wad, the weapons look cool, yet are quite useless, the good old rocket launcher can keep the butt of whatever of these guns. Overall looks very good, but isn't the kind of wad one plays from start to finish without cheating.||x|
|Anonymous||I had the most fun with doom for a such, such long time with this mod. Extremely good work over there, and the maelstrom's flame attack didn't slow my computer down at all. I think the new monsters added much to the feeling of this, you were a lot deeper in hell than ever before and met demons that had never come on earth before because they were so deep down there. The levels were average in design in parts and lovely in other parts, but who cares since the gameplay is so well done. 5 stars||x|
|Anonymous||I came. -Ultimate||x|
|Anonymous||Legendary work! -GG||x|
|Anonymous||One of the absolute best ZDoom WADs I have ever played.
|Anonymous||the actual mod is impressive, but the game design is just plain broken. the new monsters are pretty much unfair and i dont know why a wad where you have to reload every 10 shots is constantly cramming me into small rooms with a dozen barons of hell. the weapons are really impressive (i like using the knife to reflect shots) and the graphics are awesomee- the subtle pallette swaps on existing monsters like the cacodemon even worked very well.||x|
|Anonymous||Best. Mod. Ever.||x|
|Anonymous||Igonore the bastard above, cos I'm even worse of writing reviews. Its a good bad wad. 4/5 -Dqey||x|
|Anonymous||Great weapons, average levels, extremely annoying custom monsters and gameplay. 2/5||x|
|Anonymous||Awesome beyond comprehension||x|
|Anonymous||The fourth guy was right, the flame attack slows down the game, and trust me, I have a very, very, very, fast computer. The wad itself is beyond description, and if you don't think it is good, leave your name and address so I can drive over to your house and kill you. ||x|
|Anonymous||Top. Download Now. Love it from the first version. ||x|
|Anonymous||The features are great, but I found the levels a bit frustrating and the 'blue flame' attack, among other attacks, caused my framerates to drop to about 5... which for me made the doom experience a bit too hardcore. :P 4/5||x|
|Anonymous||What is this 20 meg monster that has bestowed our viewing pleasure?! Huzzah! :D||x|
|Anonymous||Xaser is the official god of everything now. ***** - MoD||x|
|Anonymous||Awesome. Although the recharge is annoying, I like it. Gogo xaser!||x|
