Mixed bag, but as long as you avoid the bad maps that take 10 hours and play the good maps that take 10 hours, then you are alrightx

Not bad :-Px

There's some junk in here but it's not like Vader's stuff is the ONLY gems to be had their (though it's arguably the best). I'd put Zippy's E2M6 and Xaser's E3M10 is the same 'great map' group as well though, at the very least. T667 stuff is good for fans of the author too. And probably more likely than not there'll be at least a few others you like. The time limit level didn't bother me terribly though I see how it could annoy some.x

Some mediocre maps, few downright awful ones, few potentially great maps that were ruined by fatal flaws (yo, Tormentor! never-ever-ever again put time limit in your map!)... but also many really awesome maps that make suffering through the rest more than worthy.x

This is easily my favorite megawad!:) x

Awesome collection of maps. Also, this is only megawad I played start to finish with Brutal Doom. Surprisingly enjoyable experience since BD tends to mess up balance on most wads I tried to play with it, making them either to easy or to hard. Not here. So if you were looking for maps that are good match for BD, ZPack is probably best choice.x

Perhaps the best wad in the world.x

Fucking awesome megaWAD. Was hoping for something a bit more epic with regards to the final boss, but that's just me. :Px

Rocket Zombies do NOT need to exist. A very cheapshotting monster that serves to either kill itself very quickly or utterly annoy the player. I stopped playing when I saw one. I can't really rate this, not having played in through, but what I did see wasn't that impressive anyway. 3/5x

Amazing. The new (and old) sprites, levels, weapons, sounds, music provides an explosively entertaining mixture of surreal video game blasting action. All your favorite enemies from your favorite 2d games are here, and presented in some very interesting ways, not the least of which is a 60 ft tall cultist from blood. Pixel-tripping at its finest. ~BeyondNecroDomex

GZDoom + ZPack + Brutal Doom = Best wad of all time... I'm not just saying that. 5/5, without question. Thanks for not adding new weapons. I like to mix my wads with brutal Doom :)x

Not bad overall, some levels are quite bland, but there's also a few can't misses in here (and no, not just Thunderpeak), and then some other maps that should appeal to at least a portion of the crowd.x

This wad is great. I absolutely love it!x

Like the new CC4, a couple of maps are extreme standouts. In addition to Vader's Thunderpeak (even though it's been released separate) and equally awesome Blackrock, Zippy's Terror Cube, skillsaw's two maps (but mainly the latter of them), and Xaser's Sector are far too good to miss. I can only give 4 stars this time because there are a lot more maps compared to CC4 that are, tbh, pretty bland. But you need to download it for Terror Cube, Blackrock, skillsaw's E3M8, and Sector at the very least.x

i finished the pack and even warped to secret maps because i haven't found them. damn, i was so happy when i finished e3m0 (that was after the final battle of e3m9) when all that music made my cry, the last cutscene of funny music and the camera floating around made me happy. damn, that made my day! this pack gets 4 stars at least because of very good map design and all scripted sequences but doesn't get the fifth star because of hard difficulty and i played on HMP. i bet UV is impossible.x
Anonymous
i'm in episode 3 now! episode 2 was the hardest i believe, i died at least once in every level and i played very carefully with mouse and strafing and more. i'm not the best player around but still a good one and i played at medium skill (HMP).x
Anonymous
i'm in e2m5 and this map is fucking frustrating!!! i can't kill the fucking black revenants because they keep reviving and killing me and i tried to use RL to gib them but didn't worked! i have 58% health and 12 armor but i don't have plasma or bfg to gib them!! PLEASE HELP! also the previous 2-3 maps were so damn hard that i swearing enough and rage quit many times, the maps lack health, most of time i had around 20% health, i'm playing at skill HMP.x

Loving the last two levels of Episode 1. Especially the music used on E1M9! Really set the mood. Haven't had a Doom (in this case Zdoom) wad do that for a good while now :)x
Anonymous
AMAZING. Can't wait for HPack! Keep the good work up!x
Anonymous
this pack is good, i like the level design but FUCK, i don't like the custom monsters!!! some of them are good, some others suck! but i wish to use this with my monsters pack randomizer otherwise this doesnt work well due of duplicate monsters (Afrit, Suicide Bomber, Blood Fiend, etc) and if i delete monsters from wad, i think will appear a sign in their places!! i hate this when happens. i give 5 stars for mostly level design and 1 star for monsters. resulting 3 stars!!x

Take these maps: E1M3, E1M7, E2M3, E2M6, E2M7, E3M7, E3M8, E1M8, E1M9, and E3M10. Bundle them into the first episode - call this the "main" episode. Then make two episodes for overflow levels (all the rest). Basically the maps I mentioned are where the real quality lies; the remainder range from weak to just barely "good". But I can't assess less than 4/5, because even as is, some of these great levels are way too good to rate anything lower. Definitely worth downloading and sifting.x
Anonymous
A bit hestitantly, I'm giving this 5 stars. There are a lot of average/even weak maps but some make this a must download IMO. Even disregarding Thunderpeak since that was released separately, I'd consider it to be near-criminal to miss out on Vader's other big map (Blackrock), Zippy's Terror Cube, or Xaser's Sector. Those three maps alone warrant the entire download IMO. I also feel all of Tormentor's maps here (E1M3,7; E2M3,7,9) were very good, and so was skillsaw's E3M8.x
Anonymous
Yeah, that's really cool how all the people that helped make this project were the first ones to rate it 5 stars each. Nevertheless, I am not one to try to "balance" the ratings out like other people, but I do think that was uncalled for and that these levels left a lot to be desired. It's one thing to map in a theme, but it's also another to make them all seemingly the same!x

awesome wad. A MUST!x
Anonymous
That was horrible, the detail was extremely inconsistent, the gameplay consisted of forced nonlinearity by substituting switchhunts as legitimate gameplay elements, and the final boss was a frustrating twat.x
Anonymous
All of the maps are beautiful, that's for sure. Episode 1 was so-so for me, Episode 2 was above average, and Episode 3 was quite good (but I like the hellish/gothic stuff, so...). Overall, pretty good work--just has a weak start. 4/5x

Like all community compilations, some are bad, some are good. The majority, though, are decent.x

"oh noes, a wad with lots of ZDoom features, beastiary monsters (which are there to be used btw) & jumping/crouching... SACRILEGE!!!11" - if you don't like that sort of thing, then don't play it. I was rather impressed by this wad...some of the maps did seem generic, but there's plenty of cool stuff here. Gameplay was decent too, new monsters used well and some tough set-pieces. This is the sort of thing ZDoom was made for…lots of cool features but still Doom at it’s core.x

Some Maps is realy cool other realy sucks! Sectors from Xazer is just awesome and brilliant! Tormentor must try to stop with Copy & Paste a little bit! 4/5 - Logan MTM x

The first level starts you off in a room where you can shoot monsters but they can't shoot you - lame - and it goes downhill from there. All the "atmospheric" Quake sounds, sloped surfaces, overused bestiary monsters and scripting in the world can't save maps which are essentially just boring and flawed layouts. COPYPASTE = DETAIL, RIGHT GUYS? RIGHT? Play Tormentor667 and Vader's maps, skip the rest. 2/5x

Monster resource pack abuse, didn't feel like Doom at times. And Flyboy is just stupid.x
Anonymous
I love this map: is simply awesome. Keep it like that, Xaser!!! 5/5x

We all can agree that Vader's maps are crème de la crème of DOOM editing. But I was far more impressed by Zippy's, Phobus' and Xaser's work. Why? They were innovative and that alone makes this megawad stand out. Other maps were very good just not as memorable. And for all those who believe this project sucks (appart from map "x" or maps by "y") - make your own project and prove YOU can do better. 5/5x

I actually like most of the maps. There are a few not-so-good ones, but even those aren't truly horrible. I gave it 5 stars.x

Some of the maps aren't all that great, but some are really good IMO. I think that E1M3,7,8,E2M3,6,7,E3 M7,8,0, and perhaps also the boss maps (M9) in some episodes, at least episode 1, are too good to miss. Other maps (E1M2,4,E2M1,5,0 (interesting "funny" level), and perhaps E3M3,4) are certainly worth your time. The other maps are really pretty average (some perhaps even worse), but I'm glad I played this pack and can recommend it overall. 3.5+(4)/5x

I cannot get THIS PACK TO WORK DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF SKULTAG. i got the thunpeak.wad and it rocked Meatloaf style. if the other maps in the pack are as good then it will justify the HOUR AND A HALF it took to download. 5/5 posted by Zarrion The Insect.x

Awesome WAD! Great atmosphere, gameplay and use of zdoom features. The hellish levels set my teeth on the edge. This is precisely what I look for in a doom game. 5*x

Only worth playing for a few maps, two of which got a separate release (Thunderpeak)1/5x

were not great. some maps [like "project dark fox" hwoever that is] where awful when put up those like vader and xaser. i think the fan on 2-5 is broken, and everything on episode 3 looks like a torm667 map. not even vader could saved this. im very sorry.x

I remember I've been waiting without patience for this wad, and imagine how much disappointed it gave me! Well, its better than knee deep in the shit, but this is still boring and could have been done ALOT better. xaver's map was godlike though. 2/5x

Incredible! These maps are pretty, good and a fuckin really gameplay =) 5 stars Darknessx

As always with a community (mega)wad, you have a mixed bag. Some maps are really cool, some aren't, but this project doesn't deserve all the bashing I've seen earlier. Wrote a small article on ZPack here, for those who can read French : http://lacommunaute. forum2jeux.com/pwads -f11/zdoom-zpack-t14 68.htm 4 stars. [WH]-Wilou84x

A word to the wise: Do *not* comment on the wad's quality until you've actually *tried* all the maps. For how can one honestly say Vader's maps are nothing short of amazing? Also epic are "Terror Cube" and "The Spirit Underworld". "Fanboy" is cool in its own right, and Phobus's maps aren't half bad either. Can't really comment on Sector, but it's original, anyhow. Fived anyway -- grab bags always hide a real treat or two. -Xaserx

Copy and paste and all the maps and all the rooms in every map look the same. And those black monsters that look like they're taking a dump and those anorectic imps suck. 0x
Anonymous
"the rest of them seem to be Torm-wannabe maps" odd, i failed to see how Terror Cube and Spirit Underworld were Torm Wannabe maps, the rest i agree with for the most part thoughx

Zippy's E2M6 appears to be horrendously underappreciated, I found that to be one of the coolest maps ever in the history of the universe.x
Anonymous
At some point in episode 2, right after the first text screen, the game loaded to Map02 Underhalls for some reason. Otherwise a decent set.x

I would have to say that this was a pretty cool map set from the time I was playing it. The new monster designs kicked ass. It was very atmospheric and it had a nice layout on some of the maps. Over all it was tough, but good if you got nothing better to do. 4/5!-Candle Mx

These maps are generally good, some just awesome. i can see this getting an honorable mention on the cacoawards at least. worth the download.x

mixed quality, a few maps do look fantastic, some nice effects, I like the small 'spider', but too often hallway-fights 4.5/5x

Okay. Most of the levels are boring or poorly thought out. Some of them are just plain awful. The only recommended maps worth checking out are Xaser's Sector and any of the maps by Vader like Blackrock. Don't bother with anything else unless you're extremely bored and have nothing better to do, you won't be impressed otherwise. ~ SnowKate709x

The pack is for Doom 2... Lol and they use ExMx and don't tell that it's for Doom 2, Noobs! ;-P... Whatever 5/5x

Nothing short of amazing for the most part, however one or two of the levels drag on, and a couple of others are below par. However, as a community chest styled project, it is a very good one. VERY recommended - 5*x

I was stopped cold at E1M2 in the middle of nearly beating it in the first playthrough when I tried to grab the bullet box out from underneath the rocket trap, except I didn't have enough speed because that room is way too small for a rocket trap, and got blindsided by a flowery piece explosive ordnance. I kind of... never played ZPack again. 3/5 -Remielx

Apparently this wasn't uploaded by the authors but by some random smuck who got it from the open beta on the ZDoom forums. Weird. But that means they're still working on it! Seems to be a lot of great maps with a wide range of gameplay. There are a few scummy ones though. Can't wait for the real release!x

A few amazing maps buried underneath a ton of awful ones.x

You guys are really coming out as good level designers - that includes the kzidz crew :P Only an idiot wouldn't hire you guys to work for their game-making firm. Truly inspiring work. Possibly some people won't like it because of the fairly challenging difficulty, but in my opinion UV and the puzzle-solving is next to perfect. I'm yet to play a lot of the levels, but I Just couldn't wait to unload my praise for this quality megawad. Very creative design also. Mad props to all!x

This shouldn't have been uploaded so early but someone decided to anyway, this is not the final version as there are still some issues to be addressed Cpt Tx

A real mishmash of quality, mostly bad, I found most of the maps to be pretty lame but its worth downloading just for Vader's four maps and Xaser's map "Sector". - MasterOFDeathx

Words are'nt enough to describe how amazing this wad is. Absolutely outstanding pack, including maps with varied themes. The maps are all solid and great, and yeah. I can't really describe this wad's awesomeness, so I'll just give it an absolute 5/5. Epic stuff right there. -Motix

This is a solid pack. There are some interesting levels here filled with detail, custom monsters and other ZDoom features. I found some maps a bit tedius and difficult, even on skill 2 though. Also the quality of the gameplay changes from amazing to 1994 styled, which will annoy some players. Overall, great pack. Could have used some new weapons though. 5/5x
