|Anonymous||"I could never find the code for the door blocking the flamethrower. Is that area a trick, or something?"
My automatic interpretation of "find another way to open it" was "shoot the lock". It worked.
|Anonymous||Atmospheric as hell and terrific game feel. Worst part about it is going back and forth across huge maps looking for items and trying to remember where they are used.||x|
|Anonymous||Beautiful and sad.||x|
|Anonymous||I was really looking forward to playing this mod, however every time I play it crashes upon opening the restroom in the staff quarters (before I've even encountered any enemies).
Also using the batch file to run does not result in your key bindings being saved to the included .ini files as suggested.||x|
|Anonymous||If ya don't like it, don't play it. I enjoyed it.||x|
|Anonymous||kinda clumsy gameplay - unfortuanately||x|
|Anonymous||I had the original version of this, was quite impressive even though my pc was a bit anemic for it. Ran across this one, and really like it, into it quite a ways. Nice change from find key, open door kill everything. Story actually is interesting and well done. Technically very well done, thank you.||x|
|Anonymous||While it had it's ups and downs,I think this was the saddest wads I've ever played.I actually felt sorry for the hero and what happened to him.And yes,I know it's just a game.||x|
|Anonymous||The first time I see that blind imp thing, it was fucking scary.
Make sure those vertical doors open the olde way back in the ufoin' 1950s (for instance, the bathroom/slide door).
Try to make a customizable hud and text scaling.
I really hate that incremental monster spawn; it totally sucks, but that's only for the map02.
I am not sure if flies could survive in the winter, especially somewhere in greenland.
There is no way to kill the boss barriers.||x|
|Anonymous||very very good conversion man i'd love for you to ask weasel maybe he'll let you combine his nazis mod with this anyways there should be a 10 star rating but unforunatly there is only a 5 star system rating||x|
|Anonymous||Very great TC. I felt like I was playing a doom version of The Thing. Very engaging story.||x|
|Anonymous||Dang, Son....this was an epic, epic story. I mean, I was on the edge of my seat pratically from the start! Thrilling, sometimes eerie, music makes everything work perfectly for the frozen, desolate base. And the gameplay is erratic, but still fun and engaging. There's a lot to do, but that's the beauty of it--it's heavily involved, not just "kill the monsters, get keys, find the exit, repeat." And the ending (after the final battle), is so chilling. Very well done! Do you plan on making a sequel? ;)||x|
|Anonymous||I would prefer a half-life style recoil that realigns itself to the center of the screen and provide to both types of players (keyboard and mouse) rather than leave one out. It's not even fun with the mouse as well. Besides the weapons are retarded-looking, especially the fists. The fireballs look stupid too, would a fast moving ball of flames really be shoving them up as if they were stationary? The levels require that I hump every pixel like in Phocas2 except monsters teleport in any time I do anything.||x|
|Anonymous||I think this is good so far, though the monster fighting is just too intense at times as already mentioned, though in terms of your expansion into other gameplay methods, fights aside, very well done indeed compared to other similar sized works. 4/5||x|
|Anonymous||I don't much like how gameplay is broken like usual with action-breaking switch/key hunts, how much it's biased towards mouse users (just use some other weapons mod for that), and how much it's overpraised like usual for a zdoom mod.||x|
|Anonymous||The story was decent, the atmosphere was top-notch, but the combat left much to be desired. Too many enemies, way too much ammunition lying around, not enough variation aside from "Open door, see bad guys" or "Take key, bad guys teleport in".
Plus, Hell-Revealed style monster hordes don't work very well when it's very easy to die, and you have to reload.||x|
|Anonymous||I've been playing this for a good long time, and I still think that this is the most perfect mix of Doom, Call of Duty and F.E.A.R. that I've ever seen! Extraordinary job!||x|
|Anonymous||The reviewer 2 above me is a total fucking no-brain loser. Either he's trolling, in which case, it's totally mandatory to ignore his rubbish, or he's the most miserable and biggest pathetic excuse of a person to ever play games. As for this mod, HOLY SHIT! 5/5 BEST ONE I'VE PLAYED SO FAR.||x|
|Anonymous||Perfect. - Se7eNytes||x|
|Anonymous||Without a single goddamn doubt this wad will remain legendary. I love the mod to this day and can't stop thinking of how cool it'd look as a movie. It has all the plot elements for a perfect shoot.||x|
|Anonymous||Well, let's get the bad out of the way first. 1) Occasional pitch black areas, 3 or 4 of them a necessary visit 2) Slow framerate with snow enabled 3) Around one to three seconds of gameplay lost upon loading some savegames. Aside from that, this is a wonderful TC, still worth a rounded 5 stars. Of course, I still wonder, I could never find the code for the door blocking the flamethrower. Is that area a trick, or something?||x|
|Anonymous||BEST, MOD, EVER.
Play it now.||x|
|Anonymous||best mod (ww2)for doom||x|
|Anonymous||this a quite nice wad,i like it more because of the new weapons,cause i just love wads with new weapons||x|
|Anonymous||I really enjoyed the visual design and the plot (and all the little details). Unfortunately, this mod is still buggy for me -- it always locks up when I reach the radio in the abandoned base. I get the text screen, but it doesn't return me back to normal play. I stay frozen in that little side room and I've tried everything including noclip, etc. So it looks like I'll never get to see the end of this mod, which is a big disappointment given how much I enjoyed it up to that point.||x|
|Anonymous||Great level design, interesting story, horrible gameplay. 4/5||x|
|Anonymous||Sometimes it really scared the shit outta me. Great TC with few minor bugs (some dialogues go away too quick, some battles are rather hard, some rare reloading/shooting mess). Very atmospheric and freezing cold. Absolutely recommended. 4,5/5
|Anonymous||best fucking mod ever!||x|
|Anonymous||Best, awesome epic mod ever, but it's a little of hard. 5/5 :P - playerlin||x|
|Anonymous||Whoever siad this was a pile of shit, you are a fucking shit-bag yourself. go ahead and give your opinion, but jesus don't be like that.
Its really fuckin good by the way. I agree with all others. Epic. Legendary. 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||It's good for the first minute, then it just turns into one of those overpacked pile of shit wads.The hubs are boring the encounters are boring and half of the scenarios are bugged further more the controls are absolutely stupid and it's impossible to know what to do.
If the first one had bad reviews, graphical flaws and alot of fucking bugs, why try and make a better one out of a steaming pile of worthless shit?! (Review capped)||x|
|Anonymous||Probably the most professional project to date, and very damn good too. Easily comparable to Void and other unique great wads. I will concede that it is very difficult though 5* -Phobus||x|
|Anonymous||When the old version of it came out, I thought it was absolutely epic, if a bit buggy.
Now that you've rectified those issues and updated it for more modern ports, I can gladly say this is one of the best mods of all time.
Superly done, Jon. Superbly done.||x|
|Anonymous||Dude, this is amazing! But I'm having trouble running on the newer GZDoom Engine, is there another update for it to run it or no?||x|
|Anonymous||Together with RTC the greatest mod for doom. This is legend! 5/5 - Damned||x|
|Anonymous||Possibly the greatest Doom mod ever created.
A must play!||x|
|Anonymous||Fantastic mod with a nice spin on an old classic. Love it. ~ D.ex.M.||x|
|Anonymous||Best doom mod ever, period.||x|
|Anonymous||Really mmersive plot implementation: notes and recordings draw you in, voice acting is actually good! Custom weapons suited the wad very well, though custom monsters were merely small variations on the originals & not much variety really. Thought gameplay was balanced enough but sometimes marred by item hunting, though objectives are a VERY nice change from flat-out keyhunts. Does realistic mapping really well, but arguably some areas are left looking a bit bland. Even has two small vehicle sequences! 4/5||x|
|Anonymous||Fucking epic. A must play||x|
|Anonymous||Amazing work you've done there, Jon! I love it because there is a realistic vein in it. 5/5. -Morpheus||x|
|Anonymous||What can I say? The only term that comes to mind when I try to describe this TC is the word "beautiful." An absolutely touching story, combined with the calm scenery and the lightest sense of mystery makes it a work of art in its own right. Before anyone takes this review the wrong way, I must say that the gameplay was quite difficult in its own right, and going back for items (mostly health, sometimes ammo) was a tad annoying. -- Zhs2||x|
|Anonymous||Wonderful, wonderful game in itself, really. It's a lot different from Doom, as the enemies are much more able to hurt you badly, and your weapons, while more effective, require more skill to use properly. The balance is great, and the atmosphere, storyline, and background are fantastic. 5/5||x|
|Anonymous||Cold as Hell is a fantastic Doom conversion. It has plenty of new artwork to feel "new", and the hub maps create a sense of non linearity... even though you have pretty defined goals. The worst part is the difficulty, this mod is VERY hard even on the easiest setting. I'm VERY glad the SE version was released, now it's possible to play this mod in its entirety.||x|
|Anonymous||This would have been so much better if it was possible to disable the dialogue boxes that almost totally block your view for a couple of seconds each time anything happens...||x|
|Anonymous||Very, very good TC. It has an intriguing story to tell and the gameplay is great aside from some item-hunting. Has support for ZDoom and GZDoom, and includes a software-renderer version.||x|
