One of the best megawads...can't believe it's almost been 8 years since it came out.x
Spectre01
Great wad with consistently fun and challenging encounters and varied map design. Also has the best looking IoS boss of all time. Awesome sequel to the original Plutonia. 5/5x

Pretty hard megawad based on original plutonia ideas. Especially I like MAP10 and MAP26.x

Great sequel, expect much of the same (which isn't a bad thing)x

^Deeforce is also right, because look at (search for)BigMacDavis on youtube and search for his "The Plutonia Experiment (100%) Walkthrough" on his channel. It proves that Plutonia (1) is all right! Much fun with Plutonia 2 too, it deserves 5 points!x

I'd take it a level farther than Deeforce -- this is better than Plutonia. Absolutely amazing mapset that's tough as nails but fun all the way through. 5/5x

P1 was so hard. but...what??? P2??x

"Plutonia 2" is as good as the original Plutonia Doom. Perfectly done!x

Yep, this is like Plutonia 1, right down to the cyberdemon in the first level. I haven't beaten level 1 yet. (No talk bout the textures because I used FreeDoom to play this, I don't actually own Final Doom)x
Anonymous
Presumably I'll step on many toes, but IHMO this is awfully overrated. Layout is too often too cramped, frequent use of black textures is an ambiance killer, monster placement is often very cheap, and the gameplay lacks besides hard at some points, almost all subtlety. Overall: I was given the sky-high ratings, very disappointed, I've played a *lot* of maps which are on many aspects much, much better than this. Small 4* for the amount of effort for a mapset I'll presumably never play again.x

I loved plutonia 1, thousands of chasecams, archviles, everything we love to hate in doom, lets take a look in your awesome sequel !!x

Great fun, but only if you are VERY good or have lots of patience, even on the easier difficulites. I have a feeling that the authors don't really know the skill level of less than stellar doom players. Still good though. 3/5x

played this on the brutal doom pk3 and I have to say that this is an amazing wad. has the classic feel but enough variation to keep it from being just another clone.WAD the music feels old school. the difficulty and challenge were good. 5/5x

Game is AWEmazing. Music and levels are very well designed. Thank you for the download. Love the game.x

Okay, there's this whole argument between PL2/PRCP on 'Which is beter?', and both sides have their merits. But PL1 is simply a timeless classic that many wads, these among them, take nods from, but one that IMO will never be dethroned. I'd go so far as to it's the most balanced, consistent, and plain addictively FUN of all the commercial IWADs. That's just how it is. We need to treat PL2/PRCP for what they are: great inspired community projects that all should play. And for that, an easy 4.5(5)/5. -kakhome1x

It didn't really feel like Plutonia as much as it perhaps should; there were more textures, the maps are often a lot bigger, there are more true slaughter moments, etc. But even if its title seems a bit unfit, I enjoyed it a lot as an independent entity; it had all the core elements for an enjoyable adventure on its own, so that's just what it was. In the end, not sure if it's deserving of the Plutonia name (and I prefer not to compare it to Plutonia) but viewed on its own merits I'll give it 5/5.x
Lord Pazman
The levels were well constructed adding a nice intrest to the levels, however, the biggest critiscism is the emphasis adding on difficulty which makes the levels way too difficult. There does need to be difficulty, trying to gain elements of Plutonia but this setting makes it practically impossiblex

True legen *wait for it* dary work!x
insanoflex312
Super repetitive levels. Hard? Sure, a little, but once you find the best route to take, its super fucking easy. Every map(until level 23 at least) it the exact same concept: start in open area, find the best route to take, then clear room. Next, find keys(boring now since you've killed everyone), defeat easy predictable traps, then exit map. EVERY. FUCKING. LEVEL. 2/5 from a huge PL1 fan.x

I would actually give this a 4.5. This is by far the hardest WAD I have ever played. The maps are great, and it is extremely challenging on Ultra-Violence. I spend most of the levels running around nearly dead. This one is definitely not for the faint of heart. It bears little resemblance to the original Plutonia, but if you are looking for a challenge, look no further. My only complaint is that the maps towards the end are pretty long. Each one is taking me about 20-30 minutes to complete.x
mason1729
With the exception of a couple maps feeling out of place, Generally a solid unofficial sequel. x
Anonymous
Just beat the plutonia 2 with brutal doom. and it was 4ucking awesome :)x
Anonymous
We live in a different era here and I feel that this is the plutonia sequel. The Casali Borthers brought in a higher level of difficulty compared to the maps at the time. The sequel in today's dooming world should offer a greater challenge as so it does. Many levels are simply excellent and few are of average quality. Has to be 5 stars, cannonballx

false title the true pl2 is prcp wad , this wad use plutonia textures but the gameplay definitely not remind plutonia, the map are too huge which is not the case in the original plutonia.3/5x

Plutonia 2 is PERFECTION, no wad or megawad can surpass pl2, visuals, level design, replayability and action-packed thanks specially to Gusta who made most of the maps. Prcp is a failed attempt to match PL2, 'cause there's no match for pl2. Plutonia 2 is a legend, 5/5 - MarkAnthonyx

One of my favorite megawads. Just like its prequel, PL2 offers a lot of fun and a whole shitload of monsters. This is a MUST for anyone who played the first one. And the secret levels are the best I've ever seen in a Megawad... 9/10 -spadeKing23-x

This wad is "plutonian" only in terms of overall texturing. Neither gameplay or geometry are resembling original wad much IMO. Still, I don't think it's a bad thing, just misleading a bit. Great megawad, one amongst the best.x

Absolutely horrible. The balance sucks, the levels are confusing and messy, and the music isn't anything great. Nothing saves this for me but the awesome HUD and menu graphics. It's barely anything like Plutonia, which was very fair, unlike this that throws arch-viles at you, at one point I picked up a plasma rifle, and was stuck inside of one. Stuff like that grants this no more than a 1/5.x

awsome wad!!x
Anonymous
Definitely BETTER (and also harder!) than the Plutonia Experiment. I love how this one uses a lot of new elements - they even changed the looks of the Gatekeeper demon at the end, something you don't see too often in most WADs. The only downside of it is probably it's high difficulty level, but otherwise, it's flawless, if this and Requiem were official releases I'd totally purchase them instead of the official Final Doom! :)x
Anonymous
The difficulty curve is a bit off for me, but the maps are great anyway. True to the Plutonia style! 4/5 -- x_MaimerFagen_xx

If the first Plutonia wasn't enough for any Doomer, this is definitely their answer to the problem. The music is just plain awesome (although it was awful at some times, but it had its moments) and although enemies do come in overwhelming numbers, they aren't impossible. It's even better when played online, because it's just THAT great. Some of the levels are so well designed that it certainly fits the atmosphere. 5/5. Don't need to really explain it much anymore as it speaks for itself.x

Anonymous
Sorry but, while this is a solid wad, it is by no means a worthy sequel to Plutonia. The maps are just too different from the perfection known as Plutonia Experiment, and they're way too hard. Plutonia wasn't hard, it was PERFECT in its difficulty, a wad needs to be FUN not hard. And overall the maps are too long and complex, plutonia was about small maps with fast-paced action.x

I thank the entire Plutonia 2 team for putting together such an epic project. This is probably the absolute best Co-op wad I have ever played. This is a must have for any doomer. And for those who have complaints, I don't see how you could not rate this wad a perfect 5/5.x

Awesome maps for the most part. Very challenging and entertaining. Some of these are quite tedious and finishing the megawad felt like a chore after a while, but I can't knock it for the most part. Worthy of a download and playing the maps from a pistol start is great! -Snakesx

I'm not sure if this is some sort of glitch but I'm getting tons of wall textures coming up black. Anyone know why this happens? Other than that, great game. Can't wait to finish it UV! :)x
Anonymous
@Logan: Use the difficulty levels... It's a solid mapset. As typical of community efforts, there are some duds. But even those aren't so big a blunder. 5/5x
Anonymous
This WAD is a mixed bag for me. It's impressive in its concept: A sequel to Plutonia that is a mirror image of its maps, but with way more challenges and far more complicated maps. It's certainly a visual feat and I really enjoyed the idea behind the project...but I felt that there were too many levels that felt overly long to me, like they were drug out for no reason. I feel bad saying this, but that's how I felt. But, it's worth a play through.x
Anonymous
This WAD is just awesome both in difficulty and level design. It gives me a reason to go dig out my Collector's Edition CD and reinstall it again! 5 stars. No doubts about it.x

Gives back the Original DooM Style. there is no new monsters (and thats good for this WAD.) And very good, challenging Maps. 5/5. Live forever, PL2.x

Why so Hard? 4/5 - Logan MTMx
Anonymous
The themes bare hardly any resemblance to the original, i.e. rarely any nukage, and also not as many traps with chaingun dudes; instead weird experiments with PE's, and I felt there were too many average maps. That said, this is a very enjoyable wad, just didn't live up to (my) expectations. Fav map: 29. ****x
Anonymous
Superb WAD. I love it. It certainly does justice to its predecessor by understanding what made it great, offering something similar yet a bit more over the top, yet without going to the "Hell Revealed" direction in general (which is not bad, but different from Plutonia.) 5/5 To the guy two comments above: Chocolate Doom has a setting for the save game limit. It'll do you good to learn how to use your source port of choice.x
Anonymous
sweet. even sweeter on coop :)x
Anonymous
The levels are really good, they do give me that plutonia feel, but like an earlier review said, the forced pickups are annoying. The new music however, i think is terrible. Also, i'm using chocolate-doom to play this and on some maps saving a game will cause it to crash which is irritating. If it wasn't for the bugs and music i'd give it a 5 but 3/5x
Anonymous
Pretty good overall. I'm glad I didn't pick Uv.x
Anonymous
The best.x
Anonymous
The levels have very similar layouts (they're all cramped and built in the same style, especially outdoors) and simply do not carry over the true feel of the original Plutonia. The WAD lacks the variety and girth to compete with its spiritual predecessor. However, the new music, new graphics, and the extension of the Plutonia theme are neat. I'll give this a 2.5/5, which will end up translating as a 3; but, honestly, this shouldn't have been named Plutonia 2. x

For those that thought Plutonia was cake, this will make you think again. 5 stars.x

Some great maps, some good maps, and some maps... that aren't so good. Still, the good outweights the bad by far, and there's always the possibility to just skip the bad maps. 5/5x

Nicely done. I Like that the authors didn't spam monsters into the levels, and actually made an effort to make them hard for reasons other than monster count.x

Great Sequel, but lacks from a few issues stated many times before. Skulltag wise, I'd love to see a Plutonia 2 with map info 33+, so the original 32 levels of plutonia 1 can be played along with the new 32 levels.x
Anonymous
A fitting sequel to the original. This megawad buys, rapes and strangles your soul! 5/5x
Anonymous
Hyped. Just hyped. It is an ok set, architecture is nice but there are many stupid limitations, some bugs and the enemy masses that suddenly drop on you like 20 arch viles from all directions just sucks ass. While ammo is ok the hilarious amounts of hard enemies make it just frustrating to play. Monsters always come compressed an in large masses. That is going to be dull after a while. Definitely not epic. But also not ugly. x

This is the best fun I've had on Skulltag with Cooperative and Survival. Highly recommended. Although I did find it easier than Plutonia 1, the level designs are certainly better and the music is great! ~BurningCadavrex
Anonymous
All in all a nice project. I partially agree with everybody saying that this mapset only rarely gives you a real plutonia feeling. Besides that I found the overuse of Chaingunners extremly annoying... sure the original Plutonia had a lot of those as well, but here almost every trap in every single map features a group of them. Still 4/5x
Anonymous
Simply, legendary...x

The UV difficulty in this sequel is near perfection. 5 stars.x
Anonymous
To above reviewer, full black textures? You're supposed to play in with The Plutonia Experiment, not DOOM2.WAD! x
Anonymous
I have no idea what anyone sees in this wad; it seems very badly designed to me. It suffers too much from forced pickups, details that only get in the way, somewhat cramped conditions, full-black textures, needless barriers, and "where the heck do I go NOW?" syndrome. Also, is there any real *need* to disable jumping and crouching? Just use barriers to prevent sequence breaking; don't arbitrarily disable new features- that's annoying.x
Anonymous
Most excellent! 5/5x

Whoever gives this wad less than 5/5 is seriously retarded. Great wad, thanks for all the hard work! 5/5x

It fucking rules. Huge well designed maps, lots of details, high gameplay value, overall a must and of the best things which met me so far in 2009.x
Anonymous
It's good, it's very good, it has some really good ideas and very challenging and classic doom action, although a bit too hard sometimes. 5/5 - Optimusx
Anonymous
Complaints: Lot of pickups placed in the players path. C'mon...why do authors still do this? I just love burning a whole medpack when my health is at 99% so I can flip a switch. A lot of repetitive battles with baddies (revnents, archies,etc.). Too many chaingunners (again, repetitive). The Good: That said, the rest of this wad is outstanding. Level design/flow is good...and plenty of good gameplay situations that more than negate the mentioned issues above. Definitely worth the download. 4/5 x

Kicked my ass on skill 2, but I definitely had a lot of fun playing it! Great work everybody. The fact that it's named Plutonia 2 isn't why it's a big deal: the brilliant team who created it is. :) -Esselx

I'm gonna be honest, I didn't really dig it. The maps were all too drab for me. It didn't really give me the Plutonia vibe when I played it, and I never found myself interested in playing for too long. Granted, some maps were interesting and overall it was very well done, but it just didn't tickle my fancy in the way the first Plutonia did. 3/5x

Wow. 6/5x

Complaints? Overuse of monster blocking lines and the sheer number of 300+ monster levels that felt like they were taking too long. I also didn't like some of the music. However, otherwise this is probably the best megawad you will play. Loved it on UV. 5* -Phobusx
Anonymous
I disagree with the last two comments. The name wasn't just tacked on, they really did try to make this wad with plutonia gameplay and feel and to me it pulls it off sucessfully. The maps simply blew my mind and still manages a classic gameplay. 5/5x
Anonymous
Well ... the maps are GOOD, i guess. But many of them DON'T feel like the original Plutonia. To me, it just seems that this is a random megawad that simply has the Plutonia name tacked onto it so that players will make a huge deal about it. Sorry if it's just me, but it seems that Plutonia2 just doesn't satisfy. 3/5 -- ph33rx

IMO this is the best wad with classical gameplay in mind.I especially love the open level design;in this regard the PL2 team makes commercial FPSs look like a joke. This has exceeded my expectations. Not only do the maps look great and are tremendous fun, but it is obvious they were also designed with speedruns and maxkills in mind, which will make PL2 a long-cherished marvel. My only gripe is that the creativity could have been slightly higher:PL1 had a very high number of unique ideas during its germination x
Anonymous
Very good, more detailed than Plutonia 1, but it has it bad parts: At times this is more influenced from hell revealed (for the ridiculous amount of monsters in certain maps) than plutonia. Also, sometimes you have no idea what a switch does. Also, some of the music was lame, Also, uhm, did I say also? oh well, this is very good, it is just not as good as plutonia 1 was. 4/5x

My only complaint is the random bugs here and there. Some music is annoying too. Aside from that, some really impressive work have been put in here.x
Anonymous
Amazing set of maps; definitely a new favorite of mine. Would recommend A+++ -Mekx
Anonymous
Very good megawad - the only problems being the music (they should've stuck with the traditional Doom/Doom II music used in The Plutonia Experiment exclusively rather than some of that awful new music) and they should've stuck with artwork included with the original Plutonia rather than the new additional artwork (menu and title graphics aside) as some of those 'UAC' doors look worse than the original to be honest. Otherwise a terrific wad.x

I rated [5 stars - legendary] - Finally its out! and I really loved the levels here. They were all very challenging and a real blast to play and I was really struggling in Map02. Map11 was a maze of Archviles but bigger and badder than the original. The level by Erik Alm (Map24) was nothing but rape-fest. The gameplay really shined, it was perfect. Some of the new music was excellent too, especially the music in Map08 and Map17. ***** - P.Cx

This is really, really good. When I first heard about this project, I didn't think it could be any better than the original Plutonia experiment. But, PL2 really surprised me. The gameplay doesn't at all deviate from the original Plutonia. It retains the "Feeling" of the original, and implements all different kinds of new creative design. Has lots o tricks and traps like the original. Difficulty is tuff, and not for the faint of heart. Definantly Cacoward material. 5/5 -r_rr x

Pretty fucking awesome. My only criticism is that in some of the larger maps I sometimes wasn't sure what the hell a switch I flipped had just done, and had to backtrack all over the place. PL2 manages to be a faithful successor to Plutonia, but also evidences a lot of its own creativity. Of course it can be deviously difficult, but happily on skill 3 I didn't have any "Impossible!" moments. Definitely destined to be one of the great releases of this year. *****x
